And that means that cockroach you just stepped on may have been a politician in a prior life. Or maybe this life...

Annecdotal evidence by the truck load will not suffice, yet once a person has experienced it for themselves, they know.
A man once saw the ocean, and his land-locked friends asked him to describe it to them. "Ah, the vastness! The roar! The waves!"

Interesting. I sometimes ponder this...but what of sleep or anesthesia? Where are we then? If we cannot account for our whereabouts while under anesthesia, it would seem there is no soul, or the soul is created from the chemical reactions in our mind.
I believe more and more that there's nothing after death...if we can obliterate our existence with anesthesia, or lots of vodka, rum or gin, then what makes the absence of nutrients and mental activity in the brain any different?

It seems to me that those criticizing the doctor's lack of faith are themselves weak in their own faith and fearful of losing it. Whoever is close to G-d has a peaceful soul, and is loathe to criticize others who are struggling.

"Many years ago I read that a doctor had tried to determine if the soul had substance. Supposedly, he put some kind of a scale on the hospital bed of a woman who was near death. At the moment the woman died, the bed's weight decreased by 4 oz. (iirc)."
By placing the beds of dying patients on scales and noting their weights immediately before and after death, Swedish physician Nils-Olof Jacobson concluded that the human soul weighs 21 grams.

I think I had an out of body experience when I was about 7. It was odd but not at all frightning.

I believe more and more that there's nothing after death . . .
One could claim there's nothing after sleep or anesthesia, too, while the disbelief in any afterlife requires a lot of faith.

It seems to me that those criticizing the doctor's lack of faith are themselves weak in their own faith and fearful of losing it.You are entitled to that belief, but I'm not sure I follow your logic.
Whoever is close to G-d has a peaceful soul, and is loathe to criticize others who are struggling.
I was not criticizing anyone. I simply noting the irony in the doctor's statements, in that he seems to have rejected what he says he is looking for. You should not take that as criticism of the doctor's faith. Frankly, if I read you correctly, it appears that it is you criticizing my faith.

I have had the same experience, and such things are not for the amateur.
And I suppose you are the quintessential professional or did your despicable slanderous tongue get you in trouble?
To: Benrand
For the living know that they shall die:
but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten. Ecc9:5 (
i remember my father, mother, sister, & others who died,
they "have no memory".....kinda like a dreamless sleep.
Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest. Ecc9:10
then.....when Jesus comes back.....But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent ("precede") them which are asleep. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:1Thess 4:13-16
plus, most know "the wages of sin" = death....seems like a pretty good description to me

Just tell me if I am getting 72 virgins. . . .. . . all asking "what are you thinking?" and wanting to talk about your relationship? As close to Hell as I can imagine,

Just tell me if I am getting 72 virgins. Would you really want 72 virgins? Wouldn't 2 or 3 who are experienced and know what they're doing suffice?
