Thanks for the link--good info. Looks like the horses got to run a sloppy track last Sunday. Weather outlook = T-storms Friday and Saturday.

*L* We drove from VA Beach to Louisville on Mon Apr 12th and it was friggin SNOWING. Brandenburg KY, just a bit up the ways on the Ohio River from Louisville, got 6 inches of snow that night...
By Sat the 17th (Thunder over Louisville) it was sunny and in the mid 80s...
And yes we HAVE had flurries on Derby Day. So I wouldn't bother looking at the forecast till Fri night. *LOL* If not Sat morning. Seriously.

I have grandstand seats"
Wow! I wish I could go. Oh well, I'll have to settle for watching it on TV. I think I might go next year. Was it hard for you to get tickets? I heard you have to order them almost a year in advance. Is that true?
Anyway, have a great time. Good luck.

"
I would not recommend placing cash $$ on this particular horse" OK I'll leave your horse out LOL ,but, I sure hope he doesn't turn around and decide to win at 50 - 1 odds ;-)

Thanks for the ping. I moved a month ago, so have not had the chance this year to learn anything about the horses running. Will be interested in the opinions posted on this thread.

You can always get general admission tickets that give you access to the Paddock area and the Infield. They sell them all day long. But to get Grandstand seats you have to request them before the 1st of September for the following year - it took me 6 years of requesting and I finally got them - and they are my seats for life as long as I renew them every year!!
There is information at the www.kentuckyderby.com website in the "Visit Churchill Downs" section. I love to watch it on t.v. but to be there and to be a part of it is completely different.

Thank you for the information. I do think I will go next year. It would be awesome to be there. Especially the week before The Derby.

FYI Wimbledon is out of the Derby. He blew a tendon. Looks like the track is going to be off. Is anyone betting the Oaks today. If so, who do you like?

Wasn't Wimbleton the Baffert horse? Rats. I like watching Baffert. - I still haven't gotten around to studying the field.

Yes, he is Bafferts's horse. He will be ok after some rest but he's out of the Derby. They interveiwed Baffert this morning., they are very dissapointed as to be expected.
I think Smarty Jones has a good chance, especially since he's won on an off track. I love his story, a true underdog.
I like Tapit too. Michael Dickinson is another great trainer. I like that he keeps his horses on the farm and ships them in to the track to run.
Imperialism has won on an off track and will be long shot.
Phew, its going to be tough trying to pick who to bet, I think a case can be made for just about all of them.
