>>say if I had posted the results of the Superbowl or some baseball game would the luddites still be as cranky?

I don't get it ... the race was over ... how thoughtless of me not to have read the unwritten rules of FR as they are selectively applied to F1

I guess these are the same people who watch game show reruns<<

You still don'r get it?

The Superbowl and the many baseball games don't run live in the USA at 4:30 AM west coast the way European F1 races do.

F1 has been on a channel like SpeedTV in America, which isn't on every normal or digital cable system. It was easier for me when Fox Sports carried F1.

And some of F1's 17 races are held at tracks around the planet...so, at somepoint during the season a fan may get to see the race live in the afternoon,or in the middle of the night.

So it is very common to rely on VCR's , Tivo, or tape delay broadcast.

I have to drive 50 miles round trip to watch this week's race. There was no other way to see this race in my location than on tape delay.

I've gotten up at 4 in the morning and driven to see F1 live on TV...but this season hardly warrants this much effort it IS boring. F1 as a sport is dying, IMHO.

In 6 years that I've been a frequent FreeRepublic reader, I've never seen an F1 race ruined by some person who felt they had to post an article on race results 35 minutes after the race ended at 7 am PST.

And what was your point? All you did was lift their headline and article...what were you contributing? Most F1 fans know where to find F1 web sites and cht forums and newsgroups.

Montoya weaved high and low and almost took Schumi high on the cold tires, then dived inside again to try low, so Schumi shut the door before Montoya had the line. Schumi didn't try to block him high, so the one block low can be considered 'racing'. Once the tires warmed up Schumi blew him away.

Montoya got some of his own medicine, but doesn't seem to take it well. Montoya, who's not above taking his own teammates out, shook his fist at Schumi during the victory lap and proceeded to trash him at the press conference.

Schumi in Ferrari beat BMW by 30 seconds today, and Button in BAR beat BMW by 15 seconds. Montoya is frustrated and was driving like a crazy man. He's known for that. Talented, but hotheaded and hard on the machinery.

That's my take on it, anyway. Schumi is not an angel, either, better to shut the door then as have Montoya hold him up until the pit stop.

I don't think Montoya ever had a line ... though I'm sure he had another opinion

the change in venue will do the sport well ...... but I am no fan of the proposals to restrict individual development, engine size or requirements that everyone use the same equipment

these are big boys and F1 isn't for the Ms. Manners tea party set

In fact, the same guy, a German by the name of Hermann Tilke, is the designer of most new F1 circuits:

Tilke Circuits in F1:
Sepang (Malaysia)
Bahrain
Hockenheimring (Germany)
Shanghai

A majority of F1 fans don't like his circuits, especially after he worked to destroy Hockenheimring. The once 4.244 mile circuit, one of the most beloved circuits in Germany and home of the Grosser Mobil-ein Preis von Deutschland, was torn apart after the 2001 GM-ePvD for the newer, less popular, 2.8 mile Tilke layout.

Some F1 fans have criticised the "Tilkerings" because they focus on the lavish grandstands first. If a driver can master one Tilkering, they can master the others. The designers of Infineon Raceway and Watkins Glen International are different, and what's tougher -- making it through the Bottleneck at Infineon or through almost "easy" Tilke GmBH circuits?

The question of why F1 chose Shanghai over Peking is simple -- Shanghai is a Tilke circuit. South African Alan Wilson designed the Peking Comp-Speed circuit. Wilson also designed layouts for Birmingham (Barber Motorsports Park), which many motorcycle fans expect to host in 2005 a MotoGP event, Las Vegas, and Daytona's new club (infield) circuit (used for driving schools and will not be affected by new construction).

And yes, this is the last Imola, all because Marlboro, Suiza Tobacco (West), Benson & Hedges, Lucky Strike, and Mild Seven doesn't want to play in Europe. They'd rather play in countries where they can advertise. (The sponsors can't appear during the USGP because of a tobacco ban.)

He has a valid point. Accept the criticism, post the word "SPOILER" in your title and avoid giving away the result in the title - in case you do a vanity posting the next time just to, again, beat everyone else to the mark. There's no need to be a snotty-arsed b*****d about it.
