Too late - you've apparently chugged the kool-aid. THAT, or you must owe him a lot of money, or something. Too late - you've apparently chugged the kool-aid. THAT, or you must owe him a lot of money, or something.

You mean when they follow each other blindly for hundreds of laps turning in the same direction? Woohoo!
Q: What's considered "high-tech" in NASCAR?
A: Using a Commodore 64 to store your carb jet settings for each track.

Schumi expresses himself with class? No one remembers him ramming Jacque Villeneuve in 1997?
"Jacques Villeneuve had now, it seemed, realised that if Michael got away from him, it would probably mean the end of the Championship.
On lap 47, Villeneuve was less than 0.5 seconds behind the Ferrari and closing rapidly. At Curva Dry Sack he saw an opening and pulled out from behind the leading car obviously intending to outbrake it into the corner. Despite being quite a long way back, the gambit looked like paying off and Villeneuve was clearly ahead as the pair reached the turn in point.
Sadly for the sport, and the legion of Ferrari/Schumacher fans, the former World Champion did not give way and instead appeared to deliberately turn into his Canadian rival. Luckily for Villeneuve, the front right wheel of the Ferrari only hit the left-hand sidepod rather than either the front or back wheels, thereby causing relatively little damage to the Williams.
For Michael things were not so good, and the Ferrari was left sitting in the gravel with the Championship apparently lost.
The assertion made by Michael immediately after the race was that it was a racing accident, no more, no less, but the press and the World in general did not agree. What should have been an epic battle settled by a superb overtaking move was turned into a farce by the man who had said that he feared the same from his rival in Suzuka. Quite rightly, Schumacher has been called before the FIA council to account for his behaviour and it will be a travesty if he only gets fined for this "accident"."

I'm not even going to mention the number of times he's trashed the sport by easing off and the throwing the results by letting RB win.

Watching it right now, thank you. Just came back to the thread to see what other insults the F1 crowd thought up. As usual, nothing original.

How about DC hitting the breaks in the rain at Silverstone? DC denied it, of course.
Schumi got the shaft on that one. That's racing.
I agree with you about Schumi trying to punt Villneuve. I thought it was obvious considering that at that point in the season it was the only way Schumi could possibly beat Villeneuve for a chance at the championship. A low point for Schumi and he was roundly criticized for it, even in Germany.
As far as Barrichello giving way to Schumacher, that's the way F1 has always been played. Schumacher is the driver who can win championships, Rubens is a good 2nd driver. Because the people who are and were getting their clocks cleaned by Ferrari want something to b*tch about doesn't mean they don't do it too.
My opinion: Schumi came to Ferrari when they were going nowhere. He is masterful at telling the technicians just how the car needs to be set up. Ferrari is where they are now because of him.

I think the word is hypocrite... Hey! Be charitable! I _agreed_ with you in post #10! :<
Anyways, I would be a hypocrite if I was buddy-buddy with him (her?) one minute and insulting the next; _I've_ been insulting right from the start. :>

Open wheel racing of any kind is boring. Yeah, NASCAR's a lot more exciting, what with the fistfights, donuts in the infield, and plentiful wrecks.
The featureless oval tracks, Jeff Gordon, and identical cars (except for the graphix, of course) just add to the thrill.
Wohoo, wonder who's gonna get the Call today??

Geez! When's the last time an F-1 thread has had this long a life? Hopefully everyone will be back in 2 weeks for Barcelona? Just don't have the title of the article give-away the results. :)

put me in the no negative column ... I can't say enought good things about it ... it's like driving a F1 racer amongst the NASCAR wannabees
say if I had posted the results of the Superbowl or some baseball game would the luddites still be as cranky?
I don't get it ... the race was over ... how thoughtless of me not to have read the unwritten rules of FR as they are selectively applied to F1
I guess these are the same people who watch game show reruns

Hmmmm . . .
There aren't controversial finishes in F1, and there's little -- if any -- strategy.
There's no head game between team leader and driver, and you almost see nothing but a monopoly. These cars are the easiest cars in the world to drive it seems. When Juan Montoya was asked to drive a 2001 Rainbow Warriors #24 DuPont Chevrolet at a Tradin' Paint sponsored by Hendrick Automotive Group with Jeff Gordon, Montoya had to be careful because the DuPont Chevrolet was slipping and sliding throughtout the 2.606 mile IMS circuit. It was clearly the tougher car to drive, and gave Montoya a greater respect of what a Cup driver has to endure -- they have to baby their tires, compared to an F1 car.
Oh by the way -- this was the last time F1 will race at Imola. The organisation said F1 cannot continue in Imola because of advertising restrictions. F1 wants new races only at tracks where their top sponsors can advertise, and there are few of such. Bahrain and China, the two new countries, permit it. Austria, which lost F1, doesn't allow it. They would rather have their cars run with full sponsor decals instead of blobs.

I respectfully suggest that you haven't seen enough F1 racing or you're smoking too much of your own product

I didn't know there was an F1 contingent on FR.
Well, I have to say, Schumacher's skills aside, he did force JPM off in the corner. The stewards let it slide because of who he is and the race being in Italy. The mistake JPM made was not taking him out, he could have held along side his rear wheel, so when he went wide, he would have spin. JPM won't make the same mistake again, he's going to start going after Schumacher in the upcoming races.
F1 is due for a big shakeup. The tracks mostly stink, no opportunity for passing at many of the races. TV ratings in europe, even italy, are down. a stop and go for schumacher would have made this race more interesting, and sent the message that the drivers can't stop what little passing there is through these moves.
