ANOTHER PRAYER REQUEST:
In post 124 armymarinemom has requested prayer for a lady who died on her way to greet homecoming troops.
"It is with a sad heart that I ask prayers for a local family. We lost a great troop supporter this evening here. She literally passed away supporting our troops. This loving mother of 5 who have served our country with a son in-law currently in Iraq died on her way to greet troops returning home. I'm sorry to say that I was not there tonight but I did get word that once again our troops showed honor.
The chaplin on the flight had a small service for the troop greeter. God Bless him and our troops. The troops did get a welcome but they gave comfort to those who came to comfort."
BELOVED HEAVENLY FATHER,
We place on the altar the lady who held to her heart our troops and was diligent in making sure that they had a proper "welcome home" as they return from the Front. Father, this servant passed on while she was making her way to perform this service. Bless her and grant her a very special place in your heaven. If it is your Will, let her continue her work in greeting and welcoming our precious troops who are called Home to you to Heaven.
Father, bless and surround her family and many friends while they mourn their loss of her Presence among them. Comfort and heal them during their time of grief.

Thank you for your very generous words. All glory goes to God in the Highest for all good.
I understand the feelings you are describing as we watch the events unfold in Iraq. We all share in that righteous indignation and just anger that we had to witness such desecration of the bodies of our fellow Americans. Such actions are so difficult for us to understand. I am not sure if we even want to.
I was reading yesterday articles from some of the Iraqi blogs which thoughtful FReepers have posted here and there. One of them pointed out that we are seeing in that action the desensitization that the Iraqi people, including children, have been subjected to for a generation. He/she pointed out that the children are truly not evil, for they dont even know what they have become. Does that not echo the words of our Christ? "Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do." I pray each day for the grace that I will be granted the ability to forgive, or at least to surrender into His keeping all of these trespasses.
I join you in your prayer, Chong that "His Will be done in His time. I pray that He guides our leader and this nation and brings it back to what it once was, a Nation Under God."
A resounding AMEN to that!

PRAYING FOR OUR TROOPS TODAY
Thank you for your patience with the many pings today. As you know, we try to let this thread have a low volume of pings, but I think we would be remiss if we did not make the effort to join together for prayer during the first major action in Iraq in quite some time in addition to the other concerns that have been brought to us above.
MERCIFUL FATHER GOD,
Beloved loving One, we are listening to our radios, reading threads, and watching tv news reports about the action which has developed in Iraq in Fallujah and in other areas. We are witnessing the loss of lives on both sides of the conflict. We are hearing reports that there is a minority Shiite leader, Sadr, who is seeking to gain power by use of force. This is on top of the recent killing and desecration of Americans in Fallujah by Baathists and foreign insurgents and their ongoing battle.
Father, we are mindful that this particular conflict is a test of our Will. Shall we fold? Shall we determine that the experiment in Freedom and self-determining government in the Middle East is too costly? Shall we press forward?
Father, we see that we are at the crossroads, and the decision is waiting in the Wind. Father, let that Wind be indeed the Breath of the Holy Spirit! Father, let only your divine Will and Vision prevail! We regret and mourn the loss of life and limb of each and every one of our precious troops, but they have indicated through interviews* and emails that they are proud of their accomplishments there, that they KNOW what they are fighting for, and that they count the cost and sacrifice as being worthwhile. Father, we beseech you to breathe the Breath of the Holy Spirit throughout our leadership and especially throughout the people of this nation to catch the Vision of our troops. We beseech you to allow us to give these precious Freedom Fighters the support, both physical and spiritual which they need in this hour!
Father, we call forth legions of your angels. Let Archangel Michael and all the Archangels and all the Beings of Light gathered at your Throne come forth to enter this fight this day! Send your Legions of Victory! We CLAIM that Victory in the name of the One Sent! Protect and guard each and every one who fights for Freedom this day! SHATTER all opposition to the Forces of Freedom and Liberation! SHATTER all opposition to the lives and divine Plan of each and every one of our troops and allies who is placing his or her own life on the line. Protect and guard all who are the contract personnel who are moving supplies and doing other efforts to support our troops and who are suffering danger alongside them.
Father, we ask that you will grant each of these in danger this hour an extraordinary miracle of protection through the armor of our prayers and your intercession! Let the spiritual prayer blankets and golden chain mail armor we have called forth for them over the past year be strengthened! Let all of the qualities of protection, power, illumination, courage, love, mercy, healing, and ministration be granted to those dispositioned in Iraq and Afghanistan and elsewhere according to the need of the hour!
Father, if there are innocents in harm's way among the civilian population in the hot spots, we ask that you will protect them also. We ask that you will place your All Seeing Eye upon those who are perpetrators of wrong-doing and expose them and all of their ilk and minions! We ask that you will judge righteous judgement regarding those who are desecrating the mosques and holy places of the region because they are seeking to use them not only as places of refuge, but as fortifications to kill Americans and their allies. Let only your Will and judgements be done in this situation!
We are grateful that you are our God and do love us as your own children. We ask that if there are those of your children among those who are fighting against Freedom, that you will cut them free and reveal to them the Truth. Let them have an epiphany and remove themselves from the darkness which has prevailed in Iraq for far too long. Especially we ask that you will cut free and protect the little children from that darkness and desecration of the delicate sensitivities of the soul.
We call forth comfort and spiritual support of the angels and the love of your own heart for those who have loved ones in harm's way and who are waiting for news. Father, God bless them and grant them peace of mind and the ability to rest. We know that there are those who have lost their loved one. We ask that you will comfort and heal them and grant them strength during the difficult times facing them.
Take those who have sacrificed their lives and health into your heart. Grant those who are now in Heaven a very special place. Let them know how very much we honor them and are so grateful to them. Let them who are injured also know of our gratitude and esteem.
We ask that you will overshadow and intercede in the entertainment and news media and all media in which news is spread abroad. Let the TRUTH prevail and expose the LIES which are bandied about! We ask that the Truth will find its way into the hearts of each one of your own here in this nation. Awaken ALL of our people! Awaken those who are well-meaning, but who natter the appeasement party line through ignorance and misplaced desire to spare lives and treasure. Encircle those who are not well-meaning, but expose them and reveal to ALL what the errors are in their rhetoric. Minimize the power and the effect which the Lies may have on the future of this Nation and her allies. Protect this nation and our troops from the backlash of the enemy who take the apparent disunity in this nation portrayed in our media as encouragement, help, and comfort for them to persist in their insurgency.
Furthermore, help us continue in our daily meditations to examine our lives to be sure we are living our lives in such a way as to be worthy of their sacrifice. Guide us in this goal each day. Let us be ever mindful of the opportunity these and all our veterans and heroes have afforded us with their blood and sacrifice in this and all the conflicts in our history.
Hear our prayers, Father! Grant our precious troops and those fighting and standing alongside them miracles of protection! Grant them all courage and a very tangible knowledge of your Presence among them!
Let our prayers be multiplied as much as your Great Law would allow. Let the equations and forces of Light increase! Let the Light prevail! Let our prayers be adjusted and made perfect according to your Will and divine Mercy. Let your Mercy flow in the greatest abundance than we have ever seen. We are grateful and we thank you for taking our worries and anxieties and letting us have peace of mind and strength with courage in the face of the unknowns we are faced with in this critical hour of decision and the blowing of the Winds of the Holy Spirit when much is hanging in the balance. We thank you for your Presence and ever-present Guidance.

PRAYER WARRIOR FIELD TRIP!!
Put on your hiking boots and all your gear because you are going to Iraq through the words of a soldier there. His name is Joe Roche and he serves with the U.S. Army's 16th Combat Engineer Battalion in Iraq and is an adjunct fellow at the National Center for Public Policy Research, a Washington think-tank.
He makes the case that we MUST support the war effort. The attacks on our troops are not just against our military but are aimed at those of us on the homefront. The enemy wants us to wilt and go home. By God's grace, we shall stay the course.

Joe Boucher's nephew was seriously wounded in Iraq and Slip 18's nephew is in Fallujah.I ask God's healing hand on Joe's nephew and protection for Slip 18's nephew.May God watch over and protect all our forces in harms way.
I thank God for the safe return of Eric,Karen,and Kalen.I am thankful Sgt Mike is safely home in the US after skin cancer surgery.

BLESSED FATHER GOD,
We place before you at this time all our brave young uniformed men and women and those who stand with them who are in danger in Iraq and elsewhere. We especially place before you petitions of healing for Joe Boucher's nephew who was wounded seriously in Iraq. Reach into each and every wound he has received and at a cellular level heal them. Heal the trauma and shock. If there are physical scars, or emotional scars, or mental scars, or spiritual scars, please intercede and grant healing for all of them. Let this be done for all of our precious veterans who have been injured in war and bear the marks in their bodies and souls. Stand with Joe and their entire family while they stand vigil for this young hero. Stand with all the families of those who have been injured or taken.
We are aware that Slip 18's nephew,Amelia's brother in Fallujah, xzins' son in Iraq, and our FRiend in Balad are among those in danger in this hour. We know that many more are with them. Father, we continue to ask for miracles of protection and mercy for them and their families. We are so very grateful that these have dedicated themselves to the cause of Freedom, and are willing to pay the price. But Father, we petition you that by our prayers and your intercession, you will, by your Grace and Mercy cause that price in the lives and blood of our troops and support personnel to be minimal.
These who are named represent the loved ones of all of us who are in harm's way. We reach out to Heaven and call upon you, our Father, for your help and mercy. We ask that if there is any way possible, that we may fulfill in some way the admonition to "pray without ceasing." If there is a level of our consciousness, or subconcious, or unconscious, or superconscious that we may be engaged in perpetual prayer and petitioning, we ask that we may be guided into how to do this. If it is possible, we offer ourselves to this work. Let us especially be engaged in this, if it is according to your Will and Possibility, even while we sleep and are going about our business in our daily lives. Help us to find moments in the day to place our attention on you and help us to see the larger Vision you have for this nation and the work our beloved troops are engaged in. We pray for the protection of that Vision as well as for the protection of our beloved troops and those who stand with them.
Father, we are mindful of our friends on this forum and elsewhere who are waiting for news of their loved ones. Father, grant that they are comforted and strengthened while they wait. Grant that they have abundant faith and the grace to feel your loving touch in these bleak hours of facing the Unknown. Grant them peace of mind and calmness of spirit. The text and aim of the prayer applies even now, in this day and hour.
President Roosevelt gave the following prayer in a radio address to the American people
shortly after the beginning of D Day, June 6, 1944:

On another thread I saw VOA's post in which he shared a prayer which had been written by Franklin Roosevelt during a dark time in WWII. It is very appropriate to events unfolding at this time and I asked him to repost it here.

This is one of the few times I'll post a relevant text from a Democrat with an "amen"
in my heart.
The text and aim of the prayer applies even now, in this day and hour.
President Roosevelt gave the following prayer in a radio address to the American people
shortly after the beginning of D Day, June 6, 1944:
In this poignant hour, I ask you to join with me in prayer:
Almighty God: Our sons, pride of our Nation, this day have set upon a mighty
endeavor
to set free a suffering humanity.
Lead them straight and true; give strength to their arms, stoutness to their
hearts, steadfastness to their faith.
They will need Thy blessings
. They will be sore tried, by night and by day,
without rest until the victory is won. The darkness will be rent by noise and
flame. Men's souls will be shaken with the violence of war.
For these men are lately drawn from the ways of peace. They fight not for the
lust of conquest. They fight to end conquest. They fight to liberate. They fight
to let justice arise, and for tolerance and good will among all Thy people. They
yearn but for the end of battle, for their return to the haven of home.
