Troop Prayer Thread 10 - A Year of VICTORY!

Posted on 03/19/2004 12:51:59 PM PST by TEXOKIE

THREE CHEERS FOR OUR WONDERFUL TROOPS, THEIR ALLIES, AND ALL WHO ARE SERVING IN SUPPORT CAPACITIES IN THE WAR ON TERROR! YOU HAVE GIVEN THIS NATION A YEAR OF VICTORY IN THAT WAR! The honor is yours, but know that we bask in your accomplishments and love you for your steadfast service on this day!

Welcome, everyone to the 10th Troop Prayer Thread! Today is the anniversary of the resumption of hostilities with Iraq, wherein our troops have made military history that shall ring down the centuries.

The troop prayer threads are dedicated to giving our troops, allies, and all who are serving the Holy Cause of Freedom, including (but not limited to) the families and loved ones waiting at home and those who are not in uniform but who are serving in dangerous situations supporting our troops and gathering intelligence spiritual support. We seek together to offer prayer, scriptures, encouraging messages, and other devotions dedicated to this purpose.

We have over the past year gathered together a prayer list of these servants of freedom. You will find it posted below. FReeper amom has been serving as our List Keeper this past year and I wish to thank and commend her for doing such a meticulous job of keeping it updated. She has also been keeping our ping list up to date. If you wish to submit a name for the prayer list or to add or take off a name from the ping list, please let either or both of us know.

For those of us who have somewhat limited computer capacity, or still have phone modems, we request that graphics be limited to pictures of loved ones for whom we are offering prayers, special visuals that seem particularly appropriate, and as much as possible, non-moving graphics. Thank you.

Thank you so much for spiritually supporting our troops, allies, support civilians, and their families.

We are grateful to God that for those who have been injured or taken back Home, He has dispatched angels to their care.

Dear Lord,
Lest I continue
My complacent way
Help me remember
Somewhere out there
A man died for me today
--As long as there be war
I then must
Ask and answer
Am I worth dying for?"

Taken from the book, "A Man Called Intrepid" by William Stevenson about William Stephenson, the head of British intelligence services prior to and during WWII. He wrote this at the very beginnings of the Battle of Britain and shared it with Eleanor Roosevelt.

STAR SPANGELED BANNER

Oh, say, can you see, by the dawn's early light,
What so proudly we hail'd at the twilight's last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars, thro' the perilous fight,
O'er the ramparts we watch'd, were so gallantly streaming?

And the rockets' red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof thro' the night that our flag was still there.
O say, does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

On the shore dimly seen thro' the mists of the deep,
Where the foe's haughty host in dread silence reposes,
What is that which the breeze, o'er the towering steep,
As it fitfully blows, half conceals, half discloses?

Now it catches the gleam of the morning's first beam,
In full glory reflected, now shines on the stream:
'T is the star-spangled banner: O, long may it wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

And where is that band who so vauntingly swore
That the havoc of war and the battle's confusion
A home and a country should leave us no more?
Their blood has wash'd out their foul footsteps' pollution.

No refuge could save the hireling and slave
From the terror of flight or the gloom of the grave:
And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave.

O, thus be it ever when freemen shall stand,
Between their lov'd homes and the war's desolation;
Blest with vict'ry and peace, may the heav'n-rescued land
Praise the Pow'r that hath made and preserv'd us as a nation!

Then conquer we must, when our cause is just,
And this be our motto: "In God is our trust"
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

WHAT WONDERFUL NEWS!!! WELCOME HOME CHRIS!!!!

Thank you for your very generous words. All glory goes to God in the Highest for all good.

I understand the feelings you are describing as we watch the events unfold in Iraq. We all share in that righteous indignation and just anger that we had to witness such desecration of the bodies of our fellow Americans. Such actions are so difficult for us to understand. I am not sure if we even want to.

I was reading yesterday articles from some of the Iraqi blogs which thoughtful FReepers have posted here and there. One of them pointed out that we are seeing in that action the desensitization that the Iraqi people, including children, have been subjected to for a generation. He/she pointed out that the children are truly not evil, for they dont even know what they have become. Does that not echo the words of our Christ? "Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do." I pray each day for the grace that I will be granted the ability to forgive, or at least to surrender into His keeping all of these trespasses.

I join you in your prayer, Chong that "His Will be done in His time. I pray that He guides our leader and this nation and brings it back to what it once was, a Nation Under God."

A resounding AMEN to that!

Thank you, TEX. Your inspired prayers are so welcome.

If it is your Will, let her continue her work in greeting and welcoming our precious troops who are called Home to you to Heaven.

Father, bless and surround her family and many friends while they mourn their loss of her Presence among them. Comfort and heal them during their time of grief.

Amen

Amen. She left this life as she would probably choose to - while serving the troops she loved. Thank you, armymarinemom, for giving us a chance to pray for her, and express our gratitude.

Joining you in prayer for TNt, that she has a chance to use her skills in her chosen field, to get that job close to home and to her troops at Walter Reed.

Thank you, God, for bringing Chris and Karen safely home!

AMEN, with prayers for our civilian FRiends and Coalition / native allies in enemy territory, as well. May God help equip us and guide us in standing by their side to fight this Enemy.

PRAYING FOR OUR TROOPS TODAY

Thank you for your patience with the many pings today. As you know, we try to let this thread have a low volume of pings, but I think we would be remiss if we did not make the effort to join together for prayer during the first major action in Iraq in quite some time in addition to the other concerns that have been brought to us above.

MERCIFUL FATHER GOD,

Beloved loving One, we are listening to our radios, reading threads, and watching tv news reports about the action which has developed in Iraq in Fallujah and in other areas. We are witnessing the loss of lives on both sides of the conflict. We are hearing reports that there is a minority Shiite leader, Sadr, who is seeking to gain power by use of force. This is on top of the recent killing and desecration of Americans in Fallujah by Baathists and foreign insurgents and their ongoing battle.

Father, we are mindful that this particular conflict is a test of our Will. Shall we fold? Shall we determine that the experiment in Freedom and self-determining government in the Middle East is too costly? Shall we press forward?

Father, we see that we are at the crossroads, and the decision is waiting in the Wind. Father, let that Wind be indeed the Breath of the Holy Spirit! Father, let only your divine Will and Vision prevail! We regret and mourn the loss of life and limb of each and every one of our precious troops, but they have indicated through interviews* and emails that they are proud of their accomplishments there, that they KNOW what they are fighting for, and that they count the cost and sacrifice as being worthwhile. Father, we beseech you to breathe the Breath of the Holy Spirit throughout our leadership and especially throughout the people of this nation to catch the Vision of our troops. We beseech you to allow us to give these precious Freedom Fighters the support, both physical and spiritual which they need in this hour!

Father, we call forth legions of your angels. Let Archangel Michael and all the Archangels and all the Beings of Light gathered at your Throne come forth to enter this fight this day! Send your Legions of Victory! We CLAIM that Victory in the name of the One Sent! Protect and guard each and every one who fights for Freedom this day! SHATTER all opposition to the Forces of Freedom and Liberation! SHATTER all opposition to the lives and divine Plan of each and every one of our troops and allies who is placing his or her own life on the line. Protect and guard all who are the contract personnel who are moving supplies and doing other efforts to support our troops and who are suffering danger alongside them.

Father, we ask that you will grant each of these in danger this hour an extraordinary miracle of protection through the armor of our prayers and your intercession! Let the spiritual prayer blankets and golden chain mail armor we have called forth for them over the past year be strengthened! Let all of the qualities of protection, power, illumination, courage, love, mercy, healing, and ministration be granted to those dispositioned in Iraq and Afghanistan and elsewhere according to the need of the hour!

Father, if there are innocents in harm's way among the civilian population in the hot spots, we ask that you will protect them also. We ask that you will place your All Seeing Eye upon those who are perpetrators of wrong-doing and expose them and all of their ilk and minions! We ask that you will judge righteous judgement regarding those who are desecrating the mosques and holy places of the region because they are seeking to use them not only as places of refuge, but as fortifications to kill Americans and their allies. Let only your Will and judgements be done in this situation!

We are grateful that you are our God and do love us as your own children. We ask that if there are those of your children among those who are fighting against Freedom, that you will cut them free and reveal to them the Truth. Let them have an epiphany and remove themselves from the darkness which has prevailed in Iraq for far too long. Especially we ask that you will cut free and protect the little children from that darkness and desecration of the delicate sensitivities of the soul.

We call forth comfort and spiritual support of the angels and the love of your own heart for those who have loved ones in harm's way and who are waiting for news. Father, God bless them and grant them peace of mind and the ability to rest. We know that there are those who have lost their loved one. We ask that you will comfort and heal them and grant them strength during the difficult times facing them.

Take those who have sacrificed their lives and health into your heart. Grant those who are now in Heaven a very special place. Let them know how very much we honor them and are so grateful to them. Let them who are injured also know of our gratitude and esteem.

We ask that you will overshadow and intercede in the entertainment and news media and all media in which news is spread abroad. Let the TRUTH prevail and expose the LIES which are bandied about! We ask that the Truth will find its way into the hearts of each one of your own here in this nation. Awaken ALL of our people! Awaken those who are well-meaning, but who natter the appeasement party line through ignorance and misplaced desire to spare lives and treasure. Encircle those who are not well-meaning, but expose them and reveal to ALL what the errors are in their rhetoric. Minimize the power and the effect which the Lies may have on the future of this Nation and her allies. Protect this nation and our troops from the backlash of the enemy who take the apparent disunity in this nation portrayed in our media as encouragement, help, and comfort for them to persist in their insurgency.

Furthermore, help us continue in our daily meditations to examine our lives to be sure we are living our lives in such a way as to be worthy of their sacrifice. Guide us in this goal each day. Let us be ever mindful of the opportunity these and all our veterans and heroes have afforded us with their blood and sacrifice in this and all the conflicts in our history.

Hear our prayers, Father! Grant our precious troops and those fighting and standing alongside them miracles of protection! Grant them all courage and a very tangible knowledge of your Presence among them!

Let our prayers be multiplied as much as your Great Law would allow. Let the equations and forces of Light increase! Let the Light prevail! Let our prayers be adjusted and made perfect according to your Will and divine Mercy. Let your Mercy flow in the greatest abundance than we have ever seen. We are grateful and we thank you for taking our worries and anxieties and letting us have peace of mind and strength with courage in the face of the unknowns we are faced with in this critical hour of decision and the blowing of the Winds of the Holy Spirit when much is hanging in the balance. We thank you for your Presence and ever-present Guidance.

Amen

*On 4/6/04 Oprah Winfrey dedicated her show to greeting and interviewing troops who have returned. She interviewed a large number of them and they each and every one stated that they were proud of their work in Iraq, they KNEW what they were fighting for and would do it again, despite the sacrifice. It was an inspiration to see these magnificent heroes, among them two of the soldiers who had been POWs, allowed to have a voice to let Americans know their Vision.
