The network said Maddoux died at 11:45 Central time this morning in Dallas due to complications from heart-bypass surgery.

Maddoux, president of the USA Radio Network, which has more than 1,300 affiliated radio stations nationwide, was an author and host of a daily radio program, "The Point of View," heard on more than 360 stations.

He also was founder and president of International Christian Media and a founder of the Alliance Defense Fund, a public-interest law firm that filed suit against San Francisco for issuing licenses to same-sex couples.

Maddoux was a frequent guest on national television and radio broadcasts, including "CBS Morning News," ABC's "Nightline" and "Good Morning America," "CNN" and "Focus on the Family."

On several occasions, he was an invited guest at the White House of President Reagan and President Bush.

His books included "America Betrayed," "What Worries Parents Most," "Free Speech or Propaganda?" and "A Christian Agenda: Game Plan for a New Era." His last book was a novel, "Seal of Gaia."

Maddoux, who lived near Dallas, is survived by his wife, Mary, four grown children and ten grandchildren.

I've been listening to 'Point of View' for over 15 years. I am listening to a taped version right now. Marlon did a great service to America an Christianity. This is a great loss.

I loved to listen to Marlin. He was always educational and a great showman. One could learn a lot in one of his hour programs.

This guy was great. Had some great interviews and I still have some of the tapes. My work hours prevented me from listening to his show over the last few years and I was looking at his air schedule just last week to see when he was on.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think he was also one of the Founders of ADF, a key group in battling the ACLU. Rest in peace.

The Point of View radio program was the life line that awakened me to the fact that the news was more than what I saw every night on the big three stations. Marlon's show accompanied me on many a long car trip. I will truly miss him.

I agree--once I started listening to USA Radio news on the hour, I could not go back to ABC's propaganda-ladened bilge.

I think the Lord may be sparing Marlin from the troubles which are in store for this nation. God knows he did his level best to prevent them from coming, but nonetheless, they're coming...
