SCREW THE STATES.Do you mean that as in, screw the United States? Or in screw the states individually? Makes a difference.
There are certain things we need. Military, infrastructure. Outside that, I'm for getting rid of the crap that is social engineering. I'm willing to pay for what I use. Sales and fuels tax best represent that. Like I said, the point is to reduce the burden on us.

Liberal NYC and California. Someone has to pay for the mess liberalism leaves behind.
All those druggies, sloths, homos riddled with disease, unwed mothers, homeless people, unemployed "environmentalist", failing indoctrination centers, sludge/garbage and sewer clean up, food banks.... You name a social disaster - any social disaster - and it'll be found in the liberal cities because of their liberal policies every time.
Don't forget all the free education and medical care for the illegals!

I want a mailing list of the people sending in their internet sales tax, this could be the greatest propsect list in history!
To: philetus
I'd sure love to know why "they" have such a hard-on for smoking and smokers. This war on the smokers is over the top! My Gawd! It's a LEGAL commodity! I just can't understand it...............

I keep receipts for, and report on my tax return, a small handful of small online purchases. Just a bone or two to throw the tax wolves to keep them off my back.
The big stuff? Frig 'em. Let them prove that I bought my PC peripherals online.

Who would the State go after Sears or you? Neither. Sears already paid the tax to the State. If anything, Sears would come after you to recoup the loss they incurred when they forgot to charge it up front. If they were to wait until end of year, they'd be SOL.

It's because most of the non-smokers will support taxes on smokers, because if they're taxing smokers, they ain't taxing non-smokers.

Exactly....the non-smokers hould start looking at the fact the goal of these people is to stamp out smoking.......but as your article states, they will justmove on to the next cause.
I wonder who will be screaming the loudest then?????

If the states and Feds want to tax something that would be fair to everyone, why don't they tax water.
If they need more money, increase the water tax.

Some places already do it.
In Delaware, the state that boasts of tax free shopping, I was paying a tax on my water and my sewer, both on how much I used and the service providing it.
Now that I no longer live in Delaware, but still do visit family and friends, I have to laugh at all the people from states with sales taxes doing so much of their shopping in Delaware. Even with sales tax I am still paying less in Virginia for nearly everything that I purchase on a regular basis than I was in Delaware.
I purchase very few things on line, so this really does not impact me as much as it impacts others.....but I still have no use for it.

New York tax officials are expecting the new tax line, for which they've added seven pages of instructions and tables, to yield just $2.5 million. You have GOT to be kidding me! Seven pages of instructions? The instruction book for the whole damned return shouldn't be seven pages!

I'm surprised they don't tax you after you move out of the state - you are my little tax slave for life no matter where you are.Sometime in the mid '90s, California was attempting to tax the retirement pay of military people who had been stationed in California during their career, no matter where they were currently living. For example, I have 22 years of service. 7 of those years I was stationed in CA. CA stated they had the right to tax the portion of my retirement pay earned in CA. No matter that I had no choice in being there, that I never made the slightest effort to become a CA citizen, I voted and regestered my car in my home state, etc.
They lost in court but it was scary they thought they could do that.

How can you possible list all those wonderful problems and leave out the NUMBER ONE PROBLEM: ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION!
