Bush's Approval Rating Slips In New Hampshire More Voters Would Choose Kerry, Edwards
POSTED: 10:58 am EST February 19, 2004
DURHAM, N.H. -- A new poll shows President George W. Bush's approval ratings in New Hampshire have fallen to their lowest levels since his election.
In a University of New Hampshire Granite State Poll conducted this week, 47 percent of New Hampshire adults said they approve of the job Bush is doing as president, 48 percent disapprove and 5 percent are neutral. That's down from a high of 71 percent in April and down 9 percentage points since October.
Looking ahead to the November election, 38 percent of likely voters said they would vote for Bush, and 53 percent said they would vote for Democrat John Kerry. In a matchup with Democrat John Edwards, 51 percent said they would vote for Edwards and 37 percent said they would vote for Bush.
Pollster Andrew Smith said Bush is in a tough spot, but the large number of Republicans in the state should pull his approval ratings up as the election approaches.
The telephone poll of 511 adults was conducted Feb. 4 through Feb. 12 and had a margin of error of plus or minus 4 percentage points.

It's alarming!! I don't tend to believe the national poll, but this poll really should wake us up!! NH is a swing state, does this represent a general trend or just an abnormality? I'm confused!!

I don't care about this poll. Bush is winning New Hampshire. It is NOT a liberal state like those around it.

I'm confusedYou certainly are. Articles posted to FreeRepublic are supposed to be headed by their actual titles not your emotional reaction to them. Since this is your first day, I'm assuming that you are sincere in this posting but perhaps you're simply trying to suggest these results would upset people here. There's been a lot posted on polls recently. I suggest you read them when they come up and lurk for awhile.

Intersting that this is your first post here. Well, not really interesting...yawn.

Bush has been ineffective so far. I was less than impressed with his Meet the Press appearance, and Bush has been terrible at defending the War in Iraq and the stupid AWOL stuff. It is too early to panic as Kerry is unknown and has lots of far-left liberal warts that won't sit well with the swing voters. But still Bush needs to run an effective campaign, but as of yet hasn't.

All the dems do is lie. Take Enron for example, they blame Bush for this and try to tie him to it. The crimes occured mainly during the Clinton years, and he let them slide. Bush put a stop to it, as he has many other corporate theivery. Check out DU sometime and look for Enron threads as an example.
Clinton let them raid the hen house, Bush has put the hammer down on them. Dems don't want people to believe that. Wonder why?

You gave yourself away by saying that you were depressed. Only the Left allows the government to dictate their personal happiness.
To: royalfighter
You know, I understand you depression.
Here in the 2000 election of President George W. Bush I thought that a new day was dawning on our America. I was right but for all the wrong reasons.
At this stage in the game, other than the tax cuts and the War on Terror, I'm seriously wondering just who the heck is this man that I voted for.
The spending on unwanted, needless and useless government programs is out of control. Our borders have ceased to exist for all practicle purposes. Smut and filth is being rammed down our throats on a daily basis, to an even greater degree than what we experienced with the clinton regime. Homosexuals with the assistance of the mayor of San Francisco are defiling the age old institution of marriage and no one is lifting a finger to stop this garbage.
I don't know what to do, where to turn or what is coming next. Calling my elected representitives is about as fruitful as whizzing in the wind. They don't seem to give a flying f*** about anything that is going on or what my concerns as a taxpaying citizen are.
Well.... I've had my vent, here. I'm going back to the only thing that soothes my nerves....cleaning my weapons.

I'm really worried. NH was the only state in New England Bush carried in 2000. I'm afraid he's going to lose that state, the number is just horrible.
We have to wake up and fight!!
To: chance33_98
dims could care less about truth. Their one goal is to retake the White House and whey're willing to lie, cheat and steal to make that happen.
To date, Bush has been relativly silent on the issues...and that's to be expected. But that will all change once he starts campaigning. The liberal lies will be met with truths and facts to support them...and John Kerry and his chances of becoming America's next president will go down in flames.

Although Bush is currently in a tough spot, the large number of Republicans in the New Hampshire should pull his approval ratings upward as we get closer to the election, said Andrew Smith, Director of the UNH Survey Center.

I understand your frustration, but please understand, the President doesn't just have to defeat the democRAT candidate, he also has to defeat the mainstream media and its complicity in the big LIE. Right now the democRATS have been in the headlines for 6 straight months, weeding out the pack of RATS for the one to carry the torch for their failed party. When this primary is over and the #1 RAT is selected, then the real debate will start to take place. Our president and his campaign will then have to be reported (even though the media will try to slant his plans) then the real contest will begin. I am sure the wisdom of the majority of this country will understand what is at stake in this election. President Bush will defeat whichever RAT they chose to represent their failed agenda.

New Hampshire just went through a primary where for three solid months one Democrat after another trotted up there to campaign and bash Bush. There were television ads slamming Bush. There were endless debates where instead of debating issues the candidates debated which one of them hated Bush the most.
We Republicans gotta get a grip! Hand wringing is for the limp-wristed liberals. When the time comes we'll kick ass!

It's not enough to stick the head in the sand. Look at Bush's performance on MTP, it's absolutely horrible. Watch out their blunder after blunder. It really does not bode well. They should fire Karl Rove and find someone else to reenergize the campaign.
To: royalfighter
You'd do better to worry about John Kerry picking up even ONE Southern state, every one of which has more electoral votes than N.H.
Oh, I forgot to add: You big loser!
