Does Florida have what we do here in Iowa, where everey 4 years, there's a ballot question somehting like "Shall Judge So-n-So stay on the bench?" - I always vote no on those - just so they get at least one 'no' vote...

Yes, this fall, it will be a YES or a NO on Judge Rapkin. Based upon the attendance at the memorial services, the community support which has been 100%, Judge Rapkin will be toast by then. I hope someone in Sarasota starts a VOTE NO ON RAPKIN bumper sticker campaign.

I saw this creepy judge go after the female reporter from O'Reilly. It looked like he was going to HIT HER!! He called her names and called O'Reilly names. It was DISGUSTING!!! That judge should be behind bars!!!!!!!!! He has blood on his hands.

O'Reilly is going after Rapkin. He had Carlie's father and the young woman Smith had tried to abduct several years ago on his show.

Carlie's father called for Papkin to resign. O'Reilly said that he will keep on the case and that he will make sure Judge Rapkin is not reelected this year.

i hesitate to endorse the widely touted 'three strikes' approach here. how about some judges with common sense? there are enough laws already to get guys like this off the streets before the really hurt someone.

You witnessed a man falling apart much like his political career aspirations. It was an ugly sight. How about his eyes bugging out of his head...

how about some judges with common sense?

Well common sense seems rather uncommon in the judicial system.

when guys like this are out when they violate parole. when people like the guy who killed Dru Sjodin have been convicted of three prior aggravated rapes (one a kidnapping) and are out there doing it again. When guys like David Maust stab one kid to death and nearly stab another one to death are out among us so he can bury two more kids in his basement. (and that' just the tip of the iceberg I expect) then the system isn't working

I hesitate to endorse the widely touted 'three strikes' approach here.

IMO it should be one strike and out out for the most horrible crimes, i.e. murders, kidnapping, certain aggravated rapes and molestations etc.

And it should be two violent felonies and your out.

And three strikes provided one felony is violent.

And four felony strikes for chronic nonviolent offenders. (if someone is caught this many times breaking the law they have no respect for the law and don't deserve to live among us.)

If these reforms I suggested were put in place all three of these killers would have been behind bars, and the four victims would be alive. (And I expect it would be far more than that, far more)

I hope they follow the investigation on this case through.
I was talking to a guy, (very credible) that said a taxi driver
was sitting next to Carlies Mother and step father in the local
tavern participating in the Super Bowl Party. Carlie called her
mother 3 times asking for a ride. Each time her mom said to just wait.
The taxi driver offered to go pick the girl up, and the mom said not
to worry about it, she can just wait.

Sitting next to the step father was his friend Joe Smith.
According to the taxi driver, Joe Smith went and picked the girl up.

The rest of the gizzly details will have to come out in the news.

Just for the record, I'm a Sarasota resident, and go past the family house everyday.

I received an email from Gov. Bush's staffer Lauren. I can post it on this thread unless you'd like to recommend a more current one re: Carlie and JUDGE RAPKIN.
