FAIRFAX, Va., Feb. 10 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Charles W. Jarvis, chairman and chief executive of Virginia's United Seniors Association, today announced an aggressive "Mark Warner Lied" campaign to expose Governor Mark Warner's flip-flop on taxes.

"In October 2001, candidate Mark Warner said, 'I will not raise taxes.' In December 2003, Governor Warner proposed the biggest tax increase in Virginia's history. There's no way to deny it: Mark Warner Lied," Charlie Jarvis said.

The "Mark Warner Lied" campaign includes radio and television ads as well as an aggressive grassroots campaign.

"This is a critical battle in the fight against higher taxes," Jarvis said. "If Virginians don't take a strong stand in this battle, politicians at every level will believe they can get away with raising taxes anytime they need money for pork projects and unelected bureaucracies. We must be sure that every elected official in Virginia gets a crystal clear picture of the consequences that come with raising taxes."

Jarvis launched the "Mark Warner Lied" campaign at a rally at the Capitol on Tuesday with other groups opposing Governor Warner's tax increase.

We have the same problem in Ohio with Liberal Republican Taft. Thank god Secretary of State Ken Blackwell is leading the charge to ax the tax.

Well, his track record exposes him to all but the most gullible, but when he was being ran against from the right last time out, he told voters that he was totally against raising taxes. Slimebag RINO oughtta be a DemonRAT!!

The United Seniors Association is a good alternative to the liberal AARP.

I was there Tuesday with a friend from the Richmond Conservative Forum. The press conference was standing room only and I couldn't get in but heard Cuchinelli speak at the rally afterwards. I was favorably impressed with him.

This battle is going to have some far reaching effects in the Republican Party, I think.

Yes. Sen. Cuchinelli is one of the very few heroes we have in the Virginia Senate.

Anyone know where this issue has gone?

Mark Warner not only lied when he said he would not raise taxes on Virginians, he also lied when he said, after his election, that he needed to raise taxes.

It turns out that Virginia will have a surplus this fiscal year -- the same year Mark Warner convinced the legislature to vote an increase in the taxes that Virginians will pay to Richmond.

I'm not surprised that Warner lied, I expect that from Democrats nowadays.

It saddens me though that some so-called Republicans conspired with him to stab us in the back.
