Izzat why he's been hanging overseas? To avoid the commission?

There's a definite air of confidence being exuded by people in a position to know. I don't deny that.

It's hard to imagine why that would be unless they had either caught OBL or had him pinned. But I have trouble imagining that we had caught him and planned to keep that secret. It would be virtually impossible to do, and the ramifications for hiding it (especially for political purposes) would be grave. So, I don't think that's it.

Or mush has Osama. And can't wiggle his way out.

The confidence is similar to last fall when both Franks and Myers spoke about Saddam's capture by the end of the year.

I think that turns off many here on Ijaz is the time element. I think his comments about " this will be revealed in x months" are not often on target. He is probably connected to only part of the story. But this ZNuke Market is a big one!!

Pakistan should execute Khan, just like we did to the Rosenbergs.

It was treason to share nuclear secrets with any country.

Realistically, they can't, because he's still a hero to most Pakistanis, and Musharraf is hanging on by a political thread as it is.

I often wonder if he is used (knowingly) to give out misinformation as well.

If OBL or others think we are near to catching them, they will move and that gives us a better shot at them.

Was US-Al Qaeda expert Steve Emerson the "mystery man"? I heard him in the background, today on Fox...

Mystery -

Who is the General and what were they talking about when he got that odd smile? I missed the entire segment. Thanks.

While I hope the WMDs are discovered and revealed just prior to the election, it would really be out of character for President Bush to conceal their discovery for political reasons. That's just not his nature.

I re-read my post and see I should have been clearer. It's not for political reasons entirely, it's mainly for national security reasons, which will become obvious to all but the hard-core left.

The political benefits are ancillary, but real nonetheless.

So's this analysis. Duh Bombshell? WMD's. More than meets the eye.

Man, I don't know, but something is cooking. I have some other thoughts on this but shall demur here. How goes it? Damn wet down here and kind of chilly. Feels like late spring in Maine .

I'm with you.
I've seen this for three years now.
And they fall for it each and every time.
The most noticeable change was Rumsfeld, Kay, Bush, etc., telling the world we expected to find WMDs in Iraq, but we don't know if we will find WMDs in Iraq.

They never said we wouldn't find them - just that we wouldn't find them in Iraq. I find it hard to believe that Saddam didn't bite buy them. I bet he did. Perhaps he's even singing now.

Yup, I agree. I was thinking that in his enthusism (and his contract with Fox News) he may in fact say to much publically and then gets 'slapped-back' by the intellegence guys. (Something big is about to break, looks like.)

Right, and risk an insurrection, alienating jihadis, mullahs and the secular nationalists. No way.

Pakistanis are being squeezed. Notice the Indian reaction. The dog who doesn't bark.

Heck, they haven't even touched Omar Sheikh of Daniel Pearl notoriety.

Not treason to share secrets with other islamis; Pakistan has always touted itself as the custodian of the Islamic bomb, on behalf of all muslims.

As soon as the opposing nominee is selected, watch for more revelations?

I don't know.
You'd think he would have tapped the leaky Senators for that invetigation just to keep them away from adult intelligence business, you know?

The Paks have been launching their most aggressive raids in the Frontier provinces in the past couple of months. I think it's probably a good guess that they've struck paydirt in some fashion.

But there's no way that Pakistan has OBL in custody without our presence on the scene. We wouldn't tolerate that for more than few hours. Pakistan has rapidly shifted custody of every important al-Qaida prisoner to the US so far.

This is also my hometown, and my Pop alerted me to the strangeness of the cancellation. If you look at it, the port of Mobile would be the sleepy kind of place a creepy terrorist might want to bring something in (poor economy - the port is not very well secured - very stupid politicians - and Mardi Gras coming up.

I hadn't really thought too much about it before this Cuba meeting was cancelled, but this definitely turned on the radar for me. My entire extended family lives in and around Mobile, so this concerns me some.

On another note, I believe it's time for the Prez to pull another ace from his sleeve. It seems every time he's (supposedly) down something amazing happens. I don't think the truth of this whole situation is anything we might think. A surprise may be coming. Weirdness is assured.

I think we're also trying to get panicked terrorist groups to lead us to WMD sites.

Oh, don't pull that stunt.

Lay it out. If I had said in 2002 that Pakistan was the biggest threat in the world, as I did, I'd have to struggle through a lot of skepticism.

So, what can you think that would shock us?

Hit 40 degrees today. First time since Jan1. No complaints.
