Marshall should take better care of his mom. With his dough she shouldn't be pumping her own gas at a BP anywhere in Detroit.

I drove on eight mile road. Both sides look like the rest of Detroit. A damn shame what two generations of democrat rule can do to a once great city...

I lived in MI south of Detriot for a while. My now husband when he would come to visit from Long Island was really shocked how crappy Detriot is. My brother lives up near Flint and I really dont know how he adjusted to MI after living in NY. Other family relocated to Fenton from CO for 10 years for business and moved back to CO last summer.

I moved to the Flint area from Warren (2 miles north of Detroit (10 mile rd.))this past year. I travel with a band pretty regularly and have NEVER seen a city so run down and worthless as Detroit. It's a shame. What's worse is that it is spreading quickly throught the suburbs.

btw...Marshall really shouldn't have car-jacked his mom. I guess he has to keep his 'image' up though...

My father had a classmate from Detroit who was the victim of a carjacking in downtown Detroit. Luckily he survived. It's getting to where everyone has been, or knows, a victim of violent crime in this country.

My now husband

LOL. What a great phrase.

Do you mean your 'now husband' wasn't your husband before or that he isn't going to be your husband later, or both? LOL

Actually, a hopelessly-in-love couple I know often introduce each other as, "This is my first husband.... etc." LOL

"...he doesn't care much for his Mom."

Well he was my boyfriend when I had to relocate for a few years to MI to help my father after my mom passed away. He promised to marry me after I moved back to NY where I belonged and we married just about 18 months after I moved back.

Eminem's Mom Reportedly Carjacked Along Eight Mile Debbie Mathers Gives Police Description Of Vehicle

The mother of rapper Eminem was reportedly carjacked Thursday night in metro Detroit.

She was approached by a man with a silver handgun who demanded her car and threatened to kill her if she did not get out of the car, according to Oak Park police.

The carjacker then grabbed Mathers and pulled her out of the vehicle, police said. He reportedly fled in Mathers' car and headed west on Eight Mile Road.

Mathers reportedly ran into the gas station and called police from a pay phone.

When officers arrived, Mathers gave them the description and license plate number of her car, police said. Officers located the car in the area of Seven Mile and Greenfield roads. The carjacker was stopped at a traffic light and blocked in by other cars, so he fled on foot when he realized the officers were following him, according to police.

Police took the male 16-year-old Detroiter into custody. Oak Park police are reportedly trying to have the 16-year-old charged as an adult.

Debbie Mathers is known for her controversial relationship with son Marshall Mathers, also known as Eminem, who resides in the metro Detroit area.

Heh, that's putting it diplomatically.

Verse 3 of "Cleaning Out My Closet", 2002

Now I would never dis my own mama just to get recognition.
Take a second to listen for you think this record is dissin'
But put yourself in my position. Just try to envision witnessin' your Mama poppin' prescription pills in the kitchen,
bitchin' that someone's always goin' throuh her purse and shits missin'. Going through public housing systems, victim of Munchausen's syndrome.
My whole life I was made to believe I was sick when I wasn't 'til I grew up, now I blew up. It makes you sick to ya stomach,
doesn't it? Wasn't it the reason you made that CD for me, Ma? So you could try to justify the way you treated me, Ma?
But guess what, yer gettin' older now and it's cold when your lonely. An' Nathan's getting' up so quick, he's gonna know that your phoney.
And Hailie's getting' so big now, you should see her, she's beautiful. But you'll never see her, she won't even be at your funeral.
See what hurts me the most is you won't admit you was wrong. Bitch, do ya song. Keep tellin' yourself that you was a mom. But how dare you try to take what you didn't help me to get.
You selfish bitch, I hope you fu*kin' burn in hell for this shit.
Remember when Ronnie died and you said you wished it was me? Well, guess what, I am dead. Dead to you as can be.

C'mon guys. Detroit is nice. Just ask Kwame Kilpatrick, the 32 year old gang banger who is now in the Mayor there. Sure, gang members hang out and run the mansion, but that just adds to the diversity. Its so diverse there that a white person can't be seen in 3/5 of the city without being killed, but hey, John Conyers approves.

My now husband

LOL. What a great phrase.

What non-verbose phrase would you suggest to describe a person who was not at the time, but would later go on to become, the writer's husband?

Myself I might use "girlfriend-now-husband" or "fiancée-now-husband" as appropriate, but to just use the term "husband" would imply that the people were married at the time being discussed.

Alisasny and I humorously worked this issue out via Freepmail.

She now refers to her hubby as then boyfriend now and forever husband.

Me thinks she has a very lucky then boyfriend now and forever husband!

Sorry. Brain glitch. If I were in the poster's original situation I would have used the term "boyfriend-now-husband" or "fiancé-now-husband" as appropriate. For myself, prior to her death, I would have referred to a certain person as "girlfriend-now-wife" or "fiancée now wife"; now I'd probably just use "late wife".
