Dear Mr. Anderson,
If the comments & testimony from guest & caller on your show can not get people to wake up to the problems associated with Illegal Immigration - maybe the telling of my plight can.
I am a Hispanic American & I worked hard to help PAY MY WAY through college - doing every and any job I could get from picking fruit, chopping cotton, cleaning hotel rooms to scrubbing toilets for a resturaunt everyday after school. Since High Tech was it and we were in the information age and if you wanted a job - then you had to know computers.
In 1996 after seven years of toiling I finally graduated from college with a BS in Computer Science & a BA in Business believing that I was set in a long term career like the one my dad had at Hersey Foods (dad retired after 20 years of service).
speed forward -
Four years - everything was going well and I had a wonderful rural home, established credit, & a well paying job working for the world's second largest software manufacturer who sent me all over the country to teach their customers how to use the company's software - a situation that required me to be gone during the week and home on the weekends.
Hence, I would hire a house sitter to care for my pot- bellied pig 'Choo Choo', plants & a couple of chickens - a wonderful AMERICAN lady who never gave me any problems. I was living the 'American dream' minus the 'wife and kids'.
UNTIL 1999 when my employer sent me to the east coast to teach classes for 10 weeks straight. At the end of my 10 week schedule I was looking forward to coming home to a nice clean quiet house. Well, that is not what I found when I pulled into the driveway. My house sitter had had a heart-attack a week after I left & was taken to the hospital. No one bothered to call me or make sure that my home was secure.
Anyone who has been burglarized knows the feeling of shock, violation, anger and horror when they see that their house has been robbed. But nothing in this world compares to coming home and finding a very large group of ILLEGAL ALIENS LIVING in your house. Rather than barge into the place I stayed in my car, got on my cell phone and called the police - who showed up 20 minutes later and knocked down the door & raided the place w/ my consent. They arrested the 12 individuals who didn't get away when the authorities showed up - NOT ONE OF THE PERSONS ARRESTED for breaking into my home was an American citizen.
THEY WERE ALL Illegal Aliens from Mexico and were living in my home, rifling through my things, selling my valuable property, using my electricity, using my phone to call locations all over Mexico, watching my cable, drinking my water and making a huge mess of my home. If that wasn't enough, later in the evening I found out that they were eating my Pets! That's right, the "BEEEPING BEEPS" butchered my PET pig and ate him. MY PET that I had raised from a baby.
When I finally was allowed to enter my home 2 days later there wasn't much of anything left - they had turned my garage and guest-room into meth-labs & had been dumping residue & bad batches on the the ground next to the back door thus damaging my home beyond repair. I literally had to have the house torn down and several inches of soil removed by a HAZMAT team - paying for what the insurance company wouldn't cover (most of the hazmat that state & federal law said I had to be done) almost wiped me out financially. I would have been OK if that had been it.
But NO, it was just the beginning. They had used credit card statements to get credit cards, opened up charge accounts, got counterfeit ID cards, etc....
It has been a nightmare. I had to take so much time off of work, going to court, dealing with the damage to my home, and the theft of my ID that my employer laid me off. When I went to apply for Unemployment insurance I found out that no less than 20 people were using my social security number for employment purposes - a situation that held up my being able to receive any benefits for almost 2 months ( while the employment office tracked everything down). The E-Office was kind enough to provide me with a list employers and I was able to track down 6 of the people using my SSN and turned them over to the INS who basically did nothing as they were still using my number 2 weeks later. I finally called the companies and demanded that they turn the Illegal over to the INS or I would file civil litigation against them for anything my attorney could come up with.
I have not been able to file a tax return w/o having my refund held up because Illegals are still using my SSN. Every year I have to fax a copy of my SSN card, police reports and a letter from my attorney before they'll even send my refund out to me. I haven't been able to get new credit cards, open up new bank accounts, get utilities in my name w/o a co-signer, buy a new car or work at any job that requires a credit check for years because ILLEGALS HAVE SCREWED UP MY CREDIT REPORT BY OPENING UP FRAUDULENT ACCOUNTS. One of them actually tried to go to college using my SSN.
It is costing me every other penny that I make to pay for lawyers to deal with the mess that Illegals have done to my good name & credit file. I have paid off the debts that were actually mine but I refuse to pay fraudulent debts & give lawbreakers a free ride for the stuff that they illegally racked up at my expense.
Here it is 2004 and where am I? Waiting to hear from the Social Security Office about a new SSN and working for minimum wage in the only job I could get - cleaning rooms & toilets for a hotel.
I'm disgusted, angry and just plain fed up with open borders, illegals and our politicans & government. All we get is LIP service - I couldn't go back to High Tech if I wanted to because the jobs that haven't been exported to other countries are filled by H1-Bs & L1s. If Bush gets his immigration plan through I might as well pack it up, emmigrate to Mexico, become a mexican citizen & then return to the USA illegall. At least then I could get healthcare, welfare, subsidies and a Jjob under the table w/ no taxes - which is more than I'm getting now.

The man was gone from home for TEN weeks, and never once bothered to try and call home even to check on his beloved pig?
The house-sitter and/or her friends and family didn't to try and contact him to say she was in hospital?
He left no emergency number with ANY neighbor? Even the mailman could have sensed something was wrong at that house..geeze.
There are far too many holes in this story to ring true. But he could just be a total idiot.

I'm having a hard time believing it myself. Then again, I had my doubts about Monica saving a stained blue dress. Time will tell, I guess, but right now, I'm skeptical.
How often does something like this happen?
I know personally of several confirmed cases of this.
I know of a man in NorthWest Arkansas who came home after work one day to find four illegal immigrants vandalizing and robbing his home.
He surprised them in the act when he walked through the front door of his house and three of them ran right past him, out across the yard and into their pickup truck.
The fourth one was only steps behind and by that time the homeowner realized what was going on and grabbed the perpetrator still in the house as he was running out and commenced to beat the living hell out of him (near the front door).
NOW GET THIS: The homeowner (a US citizen) went to jail for aggravated assault and did TWO WEEKS IN JAIL because most of the ass kicking occurred on his FRONT PORCH and NOT INSIDE HIS HOUSE.
On top of that, not one of the illegals were arrested for breaking and entering due to lack of evidence.
True story.
The other thing that used to happen FREQUENTLY when I was little was illegals who would marry U.S. born hispanic women and have children, set up house, etc. However, they would always make these mysterious 2-week or 3-week long trips back to Mexico each year, and they also were always wiring or sending money back there.....to their OTHER wife and children in Mexico. If I.N.S. cracked down or the illegal had a falling-out with an employer or got into some kind of trouble with the law, there were MANY women and children who got left behind here in the U.S. while the illegal fled back to his Mexican wife and children. Guess who got to pay for the care and feeding of his American wife and children? That's right, you and me. If they ended up staying in the U.S., that meant there were fatherless children growing up in Mexico, and guess where they went when they got old enough to work?

You see anyone can write a flaccid lie, and I suspect a college Freshman wrote it. You can tell by the cadence, rhythm, and stereotypical style....

It has nothing to do with this contrived story. If this guy REALLY did leave his house for TEN weeks and never bothered to call home even in the dead of night...to check on his property, then he is dumb..dumb and dumber. It was irresponsible.
