I don't mean our troops or their families.

But I am real suspicious of people who keep bringing up this old stuff. It's all over the middle eastern boards, they keep it up as a reminder that the Jews can't be trusted even by America.

If the families aren't satisfied with the past inquiries, then I apologize to them and to them only. But I really feel it serves absolutely no purpose 37 years later to dredge this stuff up again. No inquiry this late is likely to satisfy the families.

Like Admiral Moorer and the men of the Liberty? They do keep bringing it up. They do want an investigation. That doesn't make them Jew haters, and you should make it clear that you exempt them when you throw around that term so carelessly.

I don't know what Admiral Moorer is thinking, but I really believe 37 years later, you aren't going to solve anything by starting another inquiry.

If they don't have closure now, they never will have. No inquiry at this late date is going to give them comfort that they finally have the truth.

And I really believe that at least 99% of the time it's not the men of the liberty who is bring it up, but Jew Haters and Muslims who are just trying to stir the pot.

Ok, what is it that Admiral Moorer and the Liberty survivors are guilty of? What is the "more going on here" that they're pushing? Unlike you, I support American troops and sailors -- and the fact that they were shot up 40 years ago doesn't make them less worthy of my support. You're more like the peacenicks in the streets of San Francisco - - you put other agendas above the American military, and, when it suits your agenda, you defame them by saying they're pursuing unworthy motives, or conspiracy theories. Well, you didn't serve on the Liberty, or get wounded -- or have a buddy die - - - so I'm going to take you and your slanderous implications about these American servicement and sailors with a big grain of salt.

Then you don't know what you're talking about, because it's the Liberty survivors who are pushing for a open inquiry. Look at their website, fer chrissake.-- The website of the survivors (somebody's posted a link to it on this thread) It sounds like you'd like to shut these American veterans up by throwing around the vicious term, Jew hater. Kind of like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton want to shut people up by throwing around the term racist. Either way, it's cheap shot, low blow rhetoric.

Moorer has always struck me as a no nonsense guy. Don't always like his political comments but I believe he's a true patriot in general terms.

It doesn't change anything for me. I suspect Israel had her reasons. But there was plenty dastardly on all sides it appears.

1. Correct. I have no relatives who died on the Liberty.

2. I am not one of the 'peacenicks', nor am I indifferent to the horrible casualties we and our allies have taken in war, both from enemy and 'friendly' fire.

I have friends who are fighting in Iraq, from both countries.

Finally, my issue is with the 'timing' and with the State Department, whose views vis-a-vis Israel are well known.
