KAKE News anonymously received a copy of an interoffice e-mail from the Equal Employment Opportunity Officer of the City of Wichita. The e-mail was sent nine months ago after an American flag was removed from a city break room. The e-mail was sent to city personnel department to explain why the flag was taken down.
The e-mail reads, "Let's refrain from placing things in common areas that might appear to show a preference of one group over another
Shortly after 9/11, we had flags all over the place up front. In retrospect, that was probably not appropriate either."
The e-mail does not mention a March 26 war protest outside City Hall. During the protests, someone put an American flag in a window facing the protestors. The city says after the flag went up, three employees questioned their safety in the break room. The city says that is why the e-mail was sent out.
Wichita attorney and Regional ACLU Chairman Jim Lawing says the city did not do anything wrong. Lawing says the American flag was taken down because the city wanted to stay neutral on the issue.

How do you like this. An American city that wants to stay nuetral about being an American city.

I wonder if there is an American flag on a flagpole in front of the city hall?
This crap is getting out of control. I suppose the ACLU prefers the Hammer and Sickle and since the commies already lost (maybe they didn't hear of the fall of the USSR?), they are trying to erase and eradicate the true symbol of freedom in the world.
Ridiculous.

How do you like this. An American city that wants to stay nuetral about being an American city. That's how the Left likes it: they want everyone to be anti-American in and out of America!

Perhaps I will clarify, since it sounds like I am blaming the ACLU because while the cited attorney said the city did nothing wrong, he seems to support the city "staying neutral on the issue".
How can any AMERICAN city (the actual city government apparatus) be "neutral on the issue" of displaying the AMERICAN flag?
There is and should be NO neutrality "on the issue". In fact, I am sure that it is expressly noted in the cities charter that they are actually part of the United States, vis-a-vis their location with the United States in a state called Kansas. EFFIN' DUH!
And, lastly, don't you just love that the ACLU refers to displaying our flag as "the issue"? They can't even bring themselves to say what "the issue" is.
WHAT AND THE HELL IS GOING ON IN OUR COUNTRY?!

When I read this a few minutes ago I was furious. The city of Wichita will be hearing from me about this very soon.

ACLU filth should be made to be as uncomfortable and nervous as any Klansman, Nazi, or Communist in this country. They are no better.

What preferences of one group over another? This makes no sense unless this person is admitting that he/she or others are not pro-Americans right here in Wichita Ks. This is just more PC garbage and it needs to be taken out of my city.

My company handed out little American flags after 9/11/2001. Every office cubicle got one. They are all still there today.

I thought this article might be about the Confederate flag. Conservatives should not be surprised - the same folks who rail against the CBF are now against Old Glory.

I hope neither of us ever see that happen.

There is no neutral IN the USA.
Shortly after WWII the commies tried to stage a civil war in Greece. The farmers that stayed neutral were killed. There is no neutral, the only close aproximation is useful idiot.
The only way to stop the ACLU is to go after their law licenses.
How about attacking the concept of Pro-hac Vice. It is how lawyers for outside a jurisdiction are able to represent a case where they are not licensed. They get special permission.
By eliminating the ability to bring in out of state reinforcements, we then are able to focus on the local attorney. You don't earn a living doing free ACLU cases.
To: mjaneangels@aolcom
How about their oath of office. It does not say remain neutral. It requires affirmative action of defend.
They have to act to defent this nation form the enemy within or the have no business in office.

Much to my shock, yes....
This will be something I will be writing about in the college newspaper....I can't believe this. It is beyond the pale.

At 7:00 pm I sent the following to Mayor Mayans: "I am writing today based on the article below. I am shocked that this city, my city is embarassed at our national flag. How anyone can presume that a national emblem would somehow give preferences to some group or groups at the expense of another group or groups it pure bull. The people that are here in this nation are here because they want to be. No one made them come or stay. Wichita is a city in the USA and should proudly fly the USA flag. Are we next going to say that city hall can not have the Kansas state flag flying? Where does something like this end? It is not as if people from another nation need to be protected from knowing where they are, they are the ones that chose to come here. If anyone who was born here does not like the Stars and Stripes they are welcome to leave. Citizens of this country should not be offended at having the USA flag taken down because of a small number of people that just want to make trouble. The flag should be allowed to be hung simply because it is our flag. No one should be able to tell us that we can not fly our own flag.
Here is the article that I am basing this on:

Thank you for reconsidering this issue."
I just received a response from Mayor Mayans.
Here is his response.
"I agree with your thoughts. I have discussed this matter with the employee
that had the window sticker flag removed and it is my belief that this
employee over reacted to the demostrators and what she viewed as a safety
issue. I don't believe she had any intention to degrade our flag.
I would not tolerate anyone who disrepects our flag.
Carlos Mayans"
I wonder if the person that wrote and sent the e-mail was trying to take advantage of the flag removal. I also wonder if the person that sent the e-mail was one of the scary protestors back when this all happened.
To: mjaneangels@aolcom
All the anti-God and Country weasels of the ACLU should be stripped of their citizenship and deported, each to the third world hellhole of his or her choosing.
To: mjaneangels@aolcom
Thanks for posting this. I sent it around.
What do you think of Mayans' response?

Oh my, Don't get me started on Knight.
Most freepers probably don't know, but Knight was running around using the city basically for personal gain for himself and his friends, and remarkably kept it all quiet. Until Mayans won the race. This explains why his wife ran so hard in the election. Didn't want the skeletons falling out of the closet.
To: Crazieman
I just never trusted the guy. He was one heck of a snoozer during the campaign (should have had him for sleeping pills)....made Gore look like an exciting person. But.....there always was something fishy about that man, and I felt he was hiding something.
And then the stuff came out about Cherches et al.
I was visiting channel 12 when Choi was working on the story about that; he was going through hundreds of pages of credit card charges Cherches made. That reporter is going places with such an incredible story like he discovered.
I am sure the corruption unfortunately won't be fully disclosed....probably nothing that will nail Knight to the wall. Boy, what I would do to get that story. Talk about a dream story. But, hopefully somebody will spill their guts and Knight will get nailed...that man has got to be hiding something.

What's this story you're talking about? I never heard about it. Who are the Cherches?
I hate to say it, but many Kansas politicians are pretty corrupt. I thought our state had avoided that, but the more I see, the more discouraging it is.

About Mayans' reply to your email. At first I thought it seemed pretty tame, but now that I think about it, considering the kind of person Mayans is, I'm sure he's upset about it. I also prefer people who are calm and rational instead of reactionary and emotional. I'm sure he'll do the right thing.

Chris Cherches, the city manager, resigned due to lots of extravagant credit card charges and some questionable business dealings.
I am sure there is a story somewhere about it.

Let's refrain from placing things in common areas that might appear to show a preference of one group over another" Just when you think you've seen it all, there's always something in the wings. What group is he speaking of? You're either a natural born citizen or a migrant who is hoping to become one. This person should best leave a country he obviously despises to see what little courtesies will be extended elsewhere.
