Does This T-Shirt Send The Right Message?
This article was published on FR, and also SPARC. I gave up trying to find the posted article here. As the result of being bombarded by emails, calls, and faxes by both sites, Bon-Macy's pulled the t-shirts off the shelves. Waylon spoke with a rep from the manufacturer of the shirts, David and Goliath. I got permission from Waylon before I posted this, and I think that many of you will find this company's attitude interesting and maybe a little disturbing...
You know, I don't post here very often.........

I had gotten an message saying that "Todd" from 'David and Goliath', wanted to talk to me. (Todd is the owner of a company that makes some hateful anti-male, anti-boy T-shirts.)
I was a little surprised, as this web site and the truly wonderful people that hang out here have probably cost them a veritable fortune in sales (and just before Christmas, too. Ouch!).
This is because the Bon-Macys stores have pulled most of the 'David and Goliath' shirts off the racks, due to pressure from people (many of them from SPARC) calling the Bon and complaining about the shirts. The Bon, who knows which side their bread is buttered on, wisely decided to remove the shirts from their stores. (And Bravo! to the Bon for doing so.)
So, I called 'David and Goliath', and I spoke to a young woman (I won't say "lady") who identified herself as "Cindy". Yes, that "Cindy", apparently. (Who knows, maybe they have more than one.)
Anyway, it turns out that I was misinformed- Todd most decidedly did NOT want to speak with me, under any circumstances. Period. And I was told he wasn't going to return my phone calls, either. He must really be pissed, but that's life.
I figured I might as well make the most of my call (especially since they were paying for it on their 800 number, lol).
I asked "Cindy" if they had learned anything from this, or if they felt bad about promoting violence against boys. From what I could make of her response, the answer is "no, not really".
I also asked if we'd seen the last of these kinds of shirts, and Cindy said (and this is a quote) "No, we're going to go right on bashing boys", and then she laughed (because promoting violent assaults against children is funny to her, I suppose).
That's a direct quote from her to me. "No, we're going to go right on bashing boys". Wow, is she in the running for 'Parent Of The Year' or what?
Well folks, my personal advice is to never, ever spend give your hard-earned money to a company like 'David and Goliath'- a company that not only promotes hatred and violence against children, but appears to be damn proud of doing so.
It might not hurt to tell your friends about this company and their obvious hatred of young boys. Any company that is willing to suggest violence against children is not a company that I would want to give any of my money to. And I'll be including a note with all the presents I give out, telling folks why they aren't getting a T-shirt from 'David and Goliath'. They'll just have to settle for a nice bottle of wine, some CD's, or cool gadgets instead of a crappy T-shirt. I feel certain that the people I give gifts to will be very understanding about it.
The thing is, I know discrimination and hatred when I see it, and every time I look at that shirt, I see it.
The other interesting thing that "Cindy" said to me was that they had no intention of putting out a similar shirt about girls. According to her, they will never produce a shirt that says "Girls are icky, throw rocks at them".
"Why not?" I asked.
"Just because we won't" Cindy replied.
Stupefied by Cindy's penetrating logic, I gave up. "Ya cain't talk sense to a brick" as my daddy used to say. Goddamned if he wasn't right, too.
Well, that told me all I need to know about this company (as if I needed to know more). I told Cindy that the people who visit these message boards might find her attitude a bit offensive, and her response was that she didn't care. She wanted to know the address of this web site, and I gladly gave it to her.
So, "Cindy", if you're reading this, I hope you're proud of your gender-biased hatred. I just doubt very much that the other 100,000 visitors a month to SPARC feel the same way. And I'm really, really sorry about the huge loss of profits your company is going to experience in the next few weeks.*
This is just my personal opinion, but maybe if you weren't such a bunch of uncaring, hateful pricks, it wouldn't have happened. But like I say, that's just my opinion.
And to all the folks who visit SPARC, I wish you all a wonderful holiday season, filled with fun, food, friends, and family!
-Waylon

That's a direct quote from her to me. "No, we're going to go right on bashing boys". Doesn't surprise me. Lift up the rug on our contemporary Clintonized, Oprahized society, and you'll find the underside crawling with vermin like "Cindy." Go to sites like "democrat underground," like Rush did this past week, and you'll find swarms of them.
What disheartens me is the number of "grassroots conservatives" who think such messages are "no harm, no foul" also.

Here's what I'd have told "Cindy": "Great! You continue to bash boys, and we continue to bash your company for bashing boys." Ain't America wunnerful?

This is the beautiful thing about the internet. More people can be reached quickly when something like this comes up. Plus email is quicker than snail mail. Gotta love those toll free numbers, too ;-)
A lot of conservatives don't realize that these t-shirts, and other items with antisocial messages, are just babysteps towards an agenda.

"David and Goliath" have been added to the list of places that will not receive any money from me.
I'll make sure the folks at Church hear about it to. And the parents' organizations at both of my daughter's schools. Oh, and the full membership of the pool! How could I forget them?
Hmmm, let me check my phone list for a few more names...

Yesterday's thread on the boy hating tee-shirt was pulled. The opposition does lurk on Free Republic, and they will use the rules to get what they want. Quite a few feminists (like Liz with her friends' Web flames against Free Republic and the homosexual activists) pretend to be staunch Republicans, organize call-ins to the politicians, then vote Democrat. It's been going on for decades.
How'd you think Reagan appointed O'Connor to the Supremes? How'd you think NOW's bills like the unconstitutional VAWA and Child Support Act were passed by Republican congressmen?
They haven't seen many divorced dads before, because divorced dads haven't talked to them. The feminists surely have, though, just as they started with our churches over 100 years ago and continue to this day. ...all of this, though we are far more conservative than feminists, amazon worshippers, et al.
I'll publish a copy or a link to this story (sans expletive) at the FamilyOps.us site, too.

"What disheartens me is the number of 'grassroots conservatives' who think such messages are 'no harm, no foul' also."
Amazon worshippers are not grass roots conservatives, although they have been lurking with the Party for many years now.
They are sick individuals--insurgents to destroy Republican efforts on the social side. They know that if they split social conservatives (who are against feminism) off from the Republican Party, they will have it all. They know that if they continuue to raise the divorce rate (and we know how most singles vote), they will take office for virtually forever. Thus, they con conservatives into helping to pass laws (like the Democrat sponsored feminist laws in the '90s) that will make young men terrified to marry.
2/3 - 3/4 of divorces in the USA are sought and filed by wives (Brinig and Allen). Far more divorced men are quite conservative--more so than most Republicans. But many are speaking of a no-vote this election, because dads get the cold shoulder from legislators in favor of a few noisy, old corporate chicks of the radical social left (and moderately fiscal right). ...that, and comments like the one from the Republican legislator who said something like, "Who're they vote for--the Democrats?" Millions of very angry, staunchly conservative men might just go that way if certain voices among them prevail.
...beginning to wonder if I'm the only one who'll continue voting Republican this year.

BTW, don't be surprised to see the argument, "There's no harm in it. We said things like that all the time when we were kids.
Bull. Such tee-shirts, off-color comments and girl-hitting were big no-nos in the 1960s (before the hippie revolt). There was nothing more at all than the occasional verbal comment from a child, "But I don't want to play with stupid girls!" ...or "boys."
But tee-shirts like that didn't happen and wouldn't have been tolerated by normal, healthy, socially conservative parents. The tee-shirt is a whole different thing. People who promote those tee-shirts have sexual identity disorders, IMO.

...beginning to wonder if I'm the only one who'll continue voting Republican this year. Well, I like to at least try to keep the GOP guessing anymore. That's the down-side of having Dean as the Democrat nominee. The good news is that the odds are good that Dean and the Dems'll go down in flames. The bad news is that GW and the GOP have plenty of cover now to "move to the center" (i.e., swerve to the left), spend like thunder, etc. They figure, no way people like you and me would vote for Dean. And they're right.

...agreed. They're tearing us up with the deficit for family busting social programs that entice women to divorce. We have to foot the bill, sooner or later, for all of those loser, feminazi programs.
So what can we do? ...get more vocal within the Republican Party. If the Democrats get in this time, our country will be forced into socialism with a vengeance, and we won't have another chance. My greatest gripe against fellow Republicans is that they haven't awakened to the fact that singles vote Democrat, and laws like the VAWA, Child Support Act, etc., make more people single.

...good point! The profanity is beside the point of what needs to be done here, though.
I'm going to replace that piece of profanity with [expletive] while putting it on a Christian Web site. ...or better, yet, edit it out completely.

They'll be more concerned with a company that thinks it is appropriate to print shirts encouraging the violent assault of little boys than they will be with a couple of expletives. If that were the case, we'd be hard pressed to tell them about the much more disturbing things that occur daily in the abortuaries of this land during our pro-life fund raisers.
And who said anything about reading it to them, anyway? LOL!

Sorry about the expletives. I was so worried about the formatting, that I forgot to do something about that.
I didn't realize that the original thread had been pulled. It did some good while it was still up, though. Between here and SPARC, and others, Bon-Macy's saw the light and pulled the merchandise off the shelves.
Yeah, Hillary's minions are everywhere. I've been advised to keep an eye on this thread.

With that kind of humility, you'll be strong enough to open a major can of...heh, heh, powerful, fact-filled rhetoric on the opposition! Welcome! You have my respect.
If we don't underestimate the lengths Lefty/Ms.Lefty will go to in order to shut us up, we will win.

When I can, I attend LA Chapter events. I've gone to a few rallies, mostly because I loathe Gray Davis. I'm going to be moving to a different area of California, back to the high desert actually, sometime this summer. If there isn't a High Desert Chapter already, maybe there are enough FReepers to start one. I still know a lot of people up there.
