"Young Ronnie's career in the ballet and the arts had many people wondering if he was gay. I don't know (and don't care) if that was or is true, his father was (and is) the important figure.

How surprising is it that a blended hollywood family would have somewhat dysfunctional kids?"

They were more than suggesting that most gay men didn't have their "father's love" and the perception was there as they spoke about Ronald Reagan's lack of affection toward his son, that he was responsible for Ron Jr. ending up "gay". It was all his Daddy's fault...bull!

PS. I don't have any ill will toward Gay people. I think they probably were born that way. I think we have gone too far in what we consider acceptable viewing.

"The low threshold of truth that you expect from a historical documentary IS your choice."

I don't have a low threshold of truth for a true historical documentary. The show that this thread is about is NOT a historical documentary and therefore I expect little in the way of accuracy.

Band of Brothers was somewhat close to a historical documentary and I had a very high threshold for that one, especially since my wife's real-life uncle was was portrayed by an actor in that one (very small role, Shifty Powers the sniper). Whatever you might think of HBO, that was one heck of a show.

Homo is unnatural and immoral and does not equate to having a disease. Being a homo is a choice, similar to being a unrepentant and practicing drug addict or drunk.

You are correct, it wasn't a documentary, and therefore my comment was a bit overstated. I apologize.

I got rid of HBO and Showtime, so I never saw Band of Brothers. I'm glad to hear they got at least one right. It can be done. As a side comment, the excuse that they wanted to change a story for dramatic purposes seems lame to me. I've read quite a bit of history (was a history major for a quarter even, LOL). It seems that if they can't make a compelling story without changing it then they're just not working hard enough. They are taking the lazy way out instead of looking for the compelling within the actual events.

As a fan of the movie and the period, thanks for the input.

The fact that ITW changed the names of the major characters was tipoff it was not a documentary.

Angels is based on the Tony Kushner play about the American homosexual experience. I didn't want to watch it, but I did, and must admit it is one of the most effective pieces of propaganda I have encountered.

I said the same thing after seeing It's Elementary, the video by Academy Award-winning anti-nuke activists Debra Chasnoff and Helen Brown (who are lesbian "life partners") that teaches teachers how to teach their students that homosexuality is normal.

The worst part of the movie, was when they actually showed one guy picking up another guy in the park, and both of them going at it, standing up...doggie style. I swear..that did it and I was out of there.

That is what is so bizzare about this. We, by that I mean authorities and public in general, accept behavior that we wouldn't allow for heteros.

We have a problem with nude and sexual bathing at a local lake. A number of families have complained about their children seeing it. The 'authorities' simply shrug. If it was heteros, they would be thrown in the slammer.

Back in the early 80's the primary cause of the spread of AIDS was bath houses in San Fran. The 'authorities' allowed them to stay open because the gays objected to their closing.
Several similar hetero establishments, Plato's Retreat in NY for instance, were closed.

Again 'authorities' arrest prostitutes but leave 'pickups' alone. I guess their reasoning is, since no money changes hands we are protected. Obviously the 'authorities' care not one whit about morals only whether the gov. is getting their cut of the profits.

We live in a sick world.
