Hey, convince yourself you are right, but don't be surprised when someone you love is stocked safely away as inventory in order to support some town in the desert with federal and state monies.... the whole system is corrupted and a lot of the foot soldiers aren't even aware of how they fit into the system. If you are so hopeless and that is what you really believe, then why are you here at FreeRepublic? Conservatives are not so blinded by ideology.

Should we condemn all of capitalism because some businessmen are doing crooked deals? Should we condemn all politics because some politicians are corrupt? Should we condemn all law because there are some shyster lawyers?

Conservatives recognize that the good far outweighs the bad, and we are never so given to hopelessness and despair as you are.

What am I missing??? The Police are off limits??? So I can't say anything at work, at school, or in public about my feeling about the sickness of liberalism, unions, nepotism, and government corruption, and now you say I am wrong to mention here??

Not all, just many; go on a ride along sometime, you will see some really good cops and some you just can't figure out. You can also go to the local police Academy and check out the cadets... I'll say most are great, but a few are out there.

Rooting out political fraud and corruption is not the same thing as saying that the whole system is corrupt. We are using the system to root out corruption. By your ideologue-addled definition that is an impossibility since as you claim the whole system is corrupt.

There are three prison being built in California right now... we are broke and teachers are being laid off in the thousands.... do you know what the most powerful lobby in the state capital is???

Try getting a job after being fired from a police department. This follows a person through there entire lives. I've seen it happen. A friend of my hubby was fired based on a lie. The higher ups knew this guy wasn't guilty but they hated him and as soon as opportunity presented itself, they went after him. He has been in the middle of a law suit for years now.

No need for me to take a ride along. I used to work in a police department and I had gone a few ride alongs. I'll be honest here, we spent a great deal of time being bored. Some police departments actually demand that a cop puts at least fifty miles on the vehicle....I can't tell you how many times these cops have jumped on the highway to rack up the miles before the shift is over.

Remember 300 innocent citizens are killed every year in firearm accidents when only the police officer has the gun.

Geeeze, SPARE ME!  There were 14,000,000 crimes committed in 2001 of which there were, 1,1439,000 violent arrests. That was for a single year in 2001, and police encountered millions of whacked out, crazed, drug infested, lifelong felons, with little regard for their lives let alone the police.. The fact that only 300 were killed is a testament to the restraint that we show the guilty and innocent alike.. All of this hand wringing is folly, get on your knees and thank the Lord, that you live in a land that trains their police force to show such courage in the face of such danger.
