I do not like rap...but my son played that track for me.

Not bad.

Well on the Anti-Idiotarian site, Emperor Misha updated his post Re: Eminem due to seeing some of the rest of the lyrics of the song.

I wish some of our fellow FReepers would show the same respect for new evidence.

The song is definitely pro-self defense, and the perspective of the song changed from Eminem to Americans, in general(hence the Bin Laden reference.)

Just because some people don't like rap is no excuse to ask for SS squads to go beat him up or have him thrown in jail. It should be OBVIOUS to anyone with half a brain what was meant by that line, ESPECIALLY if some of us who actually LISTENED to the song are telling fellow FReepers that the song is, if anything, right-wing.

That's not to say there aren't a load of valid criticisms of this individual, but for this song, people are just being reactionary.

I thought conservatives would be in favor of a pro-2nd amendment song and overlook a line that is obviously not what it sounds like taken out of context(not just from the context of the song, but of Eminem's history--non-left)

Listen, this guy may be all that you say he is. It still, however, doesn't stop him from saying stupid things. Like what is the public suppose to be, mind readers? And, if he protest about being labeled other than he is; he does so no body will notice. That's probably because there is a lot of money to take to the bank.

I really think there is an marketing strategy going here and he and/or his publicity people, like so many celebs, are playing it for all it's worth.

Eminem = Wigger!

A pejorative term for a caucasian kid ("white" person) who mimicks language, dress and mannerisms of black ghetto kids

This boycott simply is not going to work because the audience demographic for the Dixie Chicks and Eminem are totally different. County music stations actually risked losing revenue because their audience tended to be more conservative and traditional than other listener demographics. The typical stations that play Eminem do not let the pure shock value of his ridiculous statements dissuade their playing of him. Quite frankly, if the stations did not allow Eminem's previous lyrics consisting of violence toward his mother and wife dissuade them from including Eminem on their playlists, they may not care two hoots what he says about the President, unfortunately.

Does anyone know what the lyrics about President Bush actually state?

Eminem had a fatwa put on him for making fun of Osama Bin Laden in a video. He's entitled to one huge stupidity, in my book.

Not that I listen to him in the first place.

Eminem - is that the stuff that melts in your mouth but not in your hands? He's pulling this garbage because his 15 minutes have expired and his lawyers are still sending him the bills.

Two of rap's pioneers: Ice-T and Boogie Down Production's, KRS-One. That was good rap!

I really have to question why this junk is even considered music in the first place. I have heard a lot of it, from Cypress Hill,to the Ghetto Boys (sp?) to what is supposedly the latest great rapper, 50 cent. While I admit that much of it is amusing in an adolescent,see-who-can-get-away-with-the-most kind of way, it is still nothing more than rhymes or staccato bursts of inanity recorded in sync with riffs and hooks made popular by real musicians. They like to call it "sampling". It has had a visibly detrimental effect on society, and I for one, cannot wait for its demise. Even the worst guitar player in the world has more claim to musical credibility than this genre of pathetic "poets".

But fading artists are learning quickly that if you 'dis the person in power at the moment, you will get recognized by all those that hate him.

Interesting opinion! Maybe he's got an agenda. So he gets noticed because he infers in his rap - or maybe just comes out and utters it - that the president needs to be killed. Violence attracts a 'diverse' population of listeners. But he also, in his rap, bashes the likes of Hillary Clinton, pro gun control positions, and other lefty-loving stuff (lyrics provided by Skywalk throughout this thread). So his young audience is exposed to ideas that run counter to the crap that they've been spoon fed by their other icons. Is he sneaking in and changing attitudes on purpose? If so, it's "Bono-like" brilliant!

Before you respond to me and tell me I'm full of $#!^ ask yourself if you've ever FReeped in a forum that you didn't really belong in. You might have been as cordial as possible and did some serious debating with those haters. Have you ever done that? Yea, I haven't done that either. It's just a guess but you may have even gotten some of those clowns to back you on your positions and then became amused like a good troll (Am I even using "troll" in the proper context?).

Anyway, It's kind of like watching Democrats getting Bushwhacked. As much as it pains me to congratulate more spending on a massive entitlement program, the dots do connect in a positive way for the remaining five years. Medicare...prescription drugs...old people...Florida...25 electoral votes...two-terms! Maybe Eminem is an ideological ally. Maybe he's a "useful idiot". But, more than likely, I'm the idiot for advancing this theory! However, I'm not a troll; at least not here.

[Me]:"...tape was stolen. The song was unfinished, and was not necessarily intended for release."

Snide,
Are you referring to the Eminem song or the George M. Song?

The Eminem song. At least, I could *swear* I saw a "news" segment on MTV wherein his people said that.

Snidely

It's my understanding that Eminem is pro-Second Amendment. What did he say that is so offensive? True, his music is brash and violent but should that be the real cause to boycott his music? What's with that? I listen to his music and I'm not offended by it or him. In fact, I'm willing to bet that he would be one of those few, besides myself and others, to take up arms to defend this great nation moreso than people who stand around with signs and waving flags giving the impression they love freedom and America.

Has he screamed "fire" yet? If so, I haven't heard about it. It is my understanding that we still do live in America and not Amerikkka where one is verbally and physically restrained and intimidated from expressing their views by their own government let alone their peers.

I like all three artists. I grew up on country music coming from the deep south but as I grew older I exposed myself to jazz (like Peggy Lee, and Lena Horne) rap, and other music mostly cause I worked with entertainers since I was young. Curtis Blow was the first who opened the doors to rappers. Remember Sugar Hill Gang and Vaughn, Mason and Crew? These guys were the ones to pave the way for those like EasyE to come into later.

You better believe boycotts work and are effective. Major corporations are not in the business to tick off customers if they can do something about it. I have helped back 3 boycotts so far that have been effective and made corporations remove products from being sold.

Go to: http://www.boycott.com

For a list of boycotts currently in progress. Although many are related to small businesses that are unknown, many large well known companies are also included. Most corporations hate bad publicity and will go to any means to get rid of it. Please feel free to intiate a boycott against any company you have a true gripe with.

This is vague. Can someone post the lyrics?
I can't believe it took 22 posts before someone asked for the lyrics. No lyrics, not even a song title, and folks're ready to crucify him. Good grief.
