I am quite certain that the military has questioned these two teenagers extensively. I'm sure these kids know who did this.
I feel sure that we will capture the ones responsible (perhaps we already have them). They deserve more than "capture", of course.
I feel sort of worried about the safety of the two that reported this to the troops. For them to be harmed for reporting this would set us back badly.

"It is time to fire the JAG and promote Lt. Col. West to a full bird. It is time for a day of reckoning." Unless the CINCs at the Pentagon wake up and smell the coffee, we are in for a long string of series deep $hi!.

I hope everybody gets used to this kind of sh!t. This is exactly what this war in Iraq was destined to become the minute the first U.S. soldier set foot on the ground there.
When we look back on this period some decades from now, the war in Iraq will be remembered as a huge blunder from just about every perspective -- military, political, and economic.

According to ABC radio reports this morning, the Pentagon is denying that the bodies of the two soldiers were stoned or mutilated or had their throats slit. The Pentagon is claiming that the soldiers were shot, that the bodies were pulled from the vehicle and their body armor and other items were looted, but that there was no beating or dragging or whatever. The Pentagon did say that a rock was thrown through the rear window of the vehicle.
I tried to find a report of the Pentagon's statements online but couldn't find one (which seems a little odd).
Could it be that the witnesses to the alleged mutilations are embellishing?
Or is the Pentagon in cover up mode?

What I heard on the radio this morning was that they were not going to get ghoulish about what happened. There are conflicting reports still coming out

ABC - ugh!Agreed, but what if the Pentagon is telling the truth? I would be very relieved to hear that the bodies were merely looted and not mutilated.
To: boxerblues
In the reports I heard the Pentagon was very specific in denying that the bodies had been mutilated. I heard this reported as recently as 11:00 or 11:30 (eastern) this morning. In fact, the Pentagon said they were concerned that this would be perceived as "another Mogadishu" but that this isn't the case and the story should be laid to rest. On the other hand, I did see the the line you mentioned about the Pentagon's refusal to get ghoulish. This would seem to indicate that something pretty nasty did happen.
I can easily imagine that the Pentagon is engaging in PR damage-control here and hasn't quite gotten its story straight yet, but I can also imagine that the reports by witnesses of troop-body mutilation were exagerated. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

"My problem is the realization that we should not be trying to win a popularity contest in Iraq, which apparently is our goal based on our actions there.
U.S. troops being forbidden to fly our nation's flag? I will never agree with such utter nonsense. It's a disgrace, an insult to those sworn to defend our flag and the nation it represents, and a crime against those soldiers who are denied their sacred right to die under the colors of their country."
Bump to that.

Look, you made the statement below.
The Bush daughters are serving this county more than you will ever.
And I asked you a simple question, "Like many of my veteran brothers, I served four years. Vietnam era. Well, are you going to tell us how they served?" Now you say,
Why would I tell them how THEY served? They didn't question the sacrifices of others.
You seem to be chasing your tail. I suggest you think before typing in the future. You have totally discredited yourself here.
If you want respect Joe, then you also have to give some. A little advice for you Joe, as you wear your bitterness on your sleave like no other here on this board.
What a moronic statement. I don't need respect from you. I'm not here for a popularity contest, or to gain your respect. LOL!
You don't get it do you? You aint seen bitter.
After spending four years in the service, going to multiple, nasty, POS countries, having my friends die around me etc, I have every right to bitch about your stupid a$$ comment about "Bushes daughters serving this country more that I ever did."
That's 100% pathetic.
You really ought to end this. Your BS is really deep. Your nothing but a DC party boy.

That POS country isn't worth the death of one American.....How many more? [JoeHadenuf]:Bush's daughters ought to get out of their BMWs and limos and go serve.
Do YOU still stand by your pathetic statements?
I wouldn't trade places with the Bush kids, with what they have to face for the rest of their life, for anything. Most normal people would feel that way too. Yet you still have no clue about this do you? Or do you not have the decency to apologize for your pathetic remark?
BTW, I lost people that I know at WTC. My small little suburban town, many miles away from any POS front line lost 5 people at WTC. We choked on the smoke and ash of 3,000 dead people for days. My brother who has bad knees and could not walk down the stairs, had to carried down 30 some-odd flights to get the hell out of WTC. You have no freeping clue why we are in Iraq and your ignorant statement above which suggests that we are in for the "worth" of Iraq is pathetic.
My dad who was injured fighting Nazi's in Italy taught me to always be ready to defend my country and I listened to what he had to say and I watched year after freeping year as I grew up as the media reported the horrors of Vietnam -- throughout my entire childhood right up to the time where my lotto number was #1. Fortunately the draft had ended.
I would never KNOWINGLY question the service of somebody who has served their country in the military and it is pathetic on your part to imply that I did just to avoid talking about you ignorant remarks. And it's stupid on your part to the question the sacrifice of others such as the president's kids and the sacrifices they will have to live with for the rest of their life or until at least every last terrorist is caught and killed.
Treat others with respect or else don't B*tch when it comes back at you rude boy!

"Or is the Pentagon in cover up mode?.." Yes.
I doubt it.
If they had said that the soldiers were beaten then they would be accused of inciting our anger. Now instead, they say the soldiers were not beaten and they are accused of covering up an angry Iraq citizenry.
Say anything...eh?
To: FreeReign
If they had said that the soldiers were beaten then they would be accused of inciting our anger. Precisely why they ARE in cover up mode.
