Nope. it is true.

God is God.

Our understanding of him is made perfect thru God's revealations in Jesus Christ.

But many non believers in Jesus nevertheless worship God as best they understand him, although their understanding of him is partial or distorted. That is why we find good people in all religions.

Remember when Paul saw the shrine to the unknown God? He didn't tell the worshippers that they were worshipping a false God, but showed them that this "unknown god" had come to earth as Jesus to tell them more about himself.

This is how we evangelize other cultures. Many good people become Christian because they find a deeper truth of their original beliefs in Christ's teaching. They are not rejecting their God, but recognizing that they had an incomplete or distorted idea in their original beliefs, and were happy that they now saw the true picture...

Most muslims love God as revealed by Abraham and Moses. They have many distortions in their religion, but it is the same God...

Are you a religous person?

Romans 3:12 They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.

Thank you for an excellent explanation. Of course, the critics will pile onto this statement by the president, because the question was set up to be divisive. Either the president answered as he did, OR he had to say that we didn't believe in the same God.

If he had taken the latter approach, the implication to Muslims would be that the president was saying they had a false God, which would have caused severe problems in the Muslims world.

As revealed in Koran by Muhammad. Koran mentions Abraham and Moses but in a distorted way.

Well said.

A man had three sons. The youngest called him 'baba.' The middle son called him 'Daddy.' Only the eldest called him 'Father.' Yet the Father knew whenever any of his sons were calling to him.

You are so wrong although you seem sincere. Allah is an old Arabian moon god, plain and simple.

If they were the same God then why are their messages so diferent?

Muslims worship the god of Muhammad, as revealed by Muhammad.

That god is not God. The distortion is to claim that it is.

No, we find good people because you cannot erase the conscience. God's law is written in all our hearts. It does not mean that Christianity and Islam worship the same God. Why on earth does Jesus give the great commission? The 'people not of this fold' meant people outside the nation of Israel. I like the idea that CS Lewis puts forth in Mere Christianity - and illustrates in "The Last Battle" that there are those that are more deeply his than even they know -- but I have a hard time making doctrine of it, since that idea is only hinted at, and in contrast it is made abundantly clear that we are supposed to go forth teaching and baptizing in the name of the Father Son and Holy Spirit.

I don't doubt that there are many muslims who love God, but they might as well be worshipping a fence post by praying to Allah. He does not exist. He is a figment of Mohammed's imagination. The muslims have been sold a bill of goods and we're paying the price.
