Queen is probably hoping W has a stronger stomach than his father had in Japan.
To: TomGuy
Judy Wood-wolf on CNN had to emphasize the anti-Bush demonstration yesterday (weren't there about a dozen people at it?) and the bigger demonstration coming tomorrow.

I wonder how toasts work for a nondrinker. Do they put something nonalcoholic in the President's glass? I know how important traditions and protocol are to the Royals.

I got lucky and arrived home while this was being televised. I actually enjoyed it. The Queen was very gracious in her speech.

Gotta Ask - What is he drinking? You know if it's a "full leaded" beverage, the media will have a field day. I think it is okay for a royal toast, and perhaps insulting to refuse.

Did she have that hopeful look in her eye when she longed for....er, I mean announced the demonstrations of tomorrow?
To: TrappedInLiberalHell
I never saw him (our prez) actually take a drink from his glass. But I did see the guy on the other side (sorry I don't know which one it is) knock his glass over when they stood up for the first time.
To: Frank_Discussion
Gotta Ask - What is he drinking? Looks like I wasn't the only one wondering (see my reply #7).
To: Howlin
Lordy, these people don't even crack a smile. But, doesn't GW look great in white tie? And what are those banners worn across the dresses of the royal women?
To: brigette
Yikes! All you life you hear things from your mom like, "well, you'll never be invited to dine with the Queen with manners like that"......and your big chance comes.....
To: Frank_Discussion
I understand it is proper to raise one's glass for a toast and then casually set it down without drinking from it.

which one was it? he on the other side of the queen. Is that the queens hubby?
To: Howlin
I loved his speech, especially "we got off to a bad start"...
Where is Laura? I would have thought they would have gotten a shot of her table.
To: TrappedInLiberalHell
I noticed GW didn't drink from the glass...at least for the first toast.
To: Quilla
I understand it is proper to raise one's glass for a toast and then casually set it down without drinking from it. It wouldn't surprise me if the liberals made some joke along the lines of "Yes, I lifted the alcholic beverage in my had, but I didn't imbibe..."
To: Howlin
He has been magnificent the whole day. Looks great in white tie and tails (remember him at the dinner in New York?)
To: TrappedInLiberalHell
had = hand
To: Conservababe
Laura was sitting 2 seats over from the queens left side.
To: Howlin

To: brigette
Durn, all I saw to the left of the queen was her husband on Fox.
To: Conservababe
Laura is on the other side of Prince Philip (the Queens consort) on the other side of Laura is Prince Charles and then Condi.
To: McGavin999
Yes, I do!!!! I wish I had kept some of those pictures. That was a great speech and a GREAT tux!

What is Condi doing at the head table? I am surprised as she is not a cabinet member.
To: brigette
No, that's the Duke (often referred to as Prince also). I guess it's okay if it was him who did the spilling! Can't take those royals anywhere....
To: Quilla
When yoi are the one being toasted you acknowledge but do not drink. :)

I agree...something about a man, a pair of jeans and a cowboy hat!! But, it must be a true hat, not a decoration, if you know what I mean!!!
And you are right about Laura! She looks graceful and lovely every time you see her. She shines from the inside out!
To: brigette
Hhhmmm, now that I look closer, I'm not sure if that is the Duke.....
To: Conservababe
I think Laura is in the 3rd screencap--in maroon to the right of center [GWB, QE2, PrPhillip, Laura, man, Condi].

Just a side note here...traitor John McCain is trashing both the energy bill and the prescription drug bill that President Bush is trying to get passed. Guess he missed his media face-time. He is working on being the media darling again. Guess he can't stand Hagel and Luger getting all the attention. They are disgust me.
