I figure that with a decade or 3,
I'll be traveling as fast as thought.
Jets would be awfully slow by comparison.
And his mansion is likely to look like an
outhouse
by comparison.
Won't Heaven and THE KINGDOM OF THE KING OF KINGS BE WONDERFUL!

" I'd be willing to bet that Travolta paid less than the price of a pristine P-51 restoration for that 707 of his!!!"
When I was a kid in Newport Beach our next door neighbor, a guy named Dave, had a P-51 Mustang that he had bought for $3,000 after WWII.
He used to give us kids in the neighboorhood rides in it. It was kept at the Orange County Airport, where they also had a lot of other cool planes owned by Talmantz Aviation.

One of the long-time aircraft dealers in Hayward (KHWD) bought a surplus P-51 (or two?) many years ago, and restored it. It's worth BIG change now.
I love Mustangs! Seeing them lined up in the warbird section at OSH, hearing them fly over with that deep growl ...
I got to sit in one on the last stop of my long cross-country ... sheer heaven!

John is known as a really nice person to work with, and not full of himself, like so many are. He is supposed to be a VERY good pilot. One of his entire life ambitions.
My brother-in-law, sort of a celebrity himself, met John at a country club a few years back. John was in town for night flying training and according to my BIL who had dinner with him, John is really a nice guy, really loves flying and the plane (which he had just acquired) was really cool inside.

I have a certain fear of flying so I have a train and track in the back of my place.

Is that Brolin walking on the beach down there with his shirt off?

I know. I saw him on Bravo--the Actor's Studio--and he had his bragging rights. He's an incredible actor--Face Off with Nick Cage was a true testing ground for his abilities.

It has been reported that they use it like we average folks use a minivan. They commute on it to LA so they have all the amenities en route.

I've driven past his estate. Of course nothing can be seen from the road. But, it is much bigger than I imagined, if he can park his jet, there.

Thanks 4 the ping!
I have seen a picture of Travolta with his first plane -- an Ercoupe! The picture is hanging up on the wall at Tom Reilly's in FL -- check it out if you're at SnF and have an invite to Tom's thing. (If you don't, catch up with us and maybe we'll have one for you. I personally won't be there, though).
I'd say Travolta's come a long way in both his hardware and his piloting skills. The 707 is a very demanding machine, I'm told.
I just actually got my first loggable jet time, 2 hrs in a full-motion sim for the L-159. All I can say is, where's the 'reset' button on the plane... it was here in the sim... I didn't log the time, though.
I don't know what Travolta's politics are, and I do get creeped out by the Xenu thing.... but, that's really between him and God, isn't it? I can't object to any pilot living his dream, when it harms no one.

The mansions of the noveau rich don't compare to the "real" ritzy places like those found in Newport R.I. American royalty is still alive and well. On the other hand, it is kind of nice to know that any dumbass can amass a fortune...
