The Arab rulers don't give a d*mn about these poor Arabs in Palestine, since they are a convenient tool to try to destroy Israel with....

True. And for that reason, those same Arab rulers have absolutely no desire to bring them within their own borders. (Just look at the problems Jordan has with them.)

So the current idea -- separate Israeli and Palestinian states -- has at least the bare potential of being the best among a bunch of bad choices.

For it to work, of course, requires the extermination of the rabid terrorist murderers and their followers, and a long period teaching the rest of the Palestinians the principles of civilized behavior.

I doubt it will work -- but it has to be tried.

You are taking an immoral position. Human beings must be dealt with in the here and now.

It's that large group of Arab folks who are living in the area currently designated "the Palestinian Authority."

The author would either have us pretend that those people are not there; or else that there is someplace else for them to go.

They're there, and they have no place else to go.

That's the reality, and recognition of that fact is both part of the problem, and part of the solution.

Two comments:
When Jewish people in the Soviet Union, Syria, and Ethiopia were persecuted, the Jewish community worldwide collected funds for resettlement and the Israeli people brought those refugees to Israel. Where is the comparable effort on the part of Arab nations to resettle at least some of the Palestinians in their lands?
There has always been both an Arab presence and a Jewish presence in the land now known as Israel. Certainly when Mark Twain visited the area it was desolate. No surprise that he didn't see many people there. Much of the U.S. was also desolate at that time.

The fact remains that the Jewish people want a state that is uniquely Jewish in character and governance, but if the Palestinian Arabs were to return and become assimilated the state would lose its Jewish majority... actually it is the Israelis who would be assimilated into a Palestinian majority. There might have been a time when the rights of the Palestinians could have received deserved attention and respect from Israelis and vice-versa, but that time is probably about thirty or forty years past.

The United States can certainly provide a neutral meeting ground for the leaders of both peoples, but past that it would do well to not take sides... at least IMHO. Privately, of course, root for whomever.

Mexico is already taking over Wisconsin, one restaurant kitchen after another, one yard service after another. Next they may go after Wal-Mart cleaning services!

Let's be clear. What you're advocating is that the Palestinians (or call them what you like) be pushed out, subjugated, or killed. That's not a particularly healthy set of choices.

No. I think we should ship all illegal immigrants in this nation home. I think Israel should send their illegals home, too. Send them back to the Arab countries where they belong.

We already are. Hell, they practically own California already, having driven it to total bankruptcy. They come in by the MILLIONS every year.

Imagine how Israel feels. Their illegals are killing them!

As Alouette and I were bantering about above: If you were an Arab nation, would you want to resettle them within your borders? Not a chance: Arab governments are in a precarious enough state without Yasser's minions adding to the unrest.

You are taking an immoral position. Human beings must be dealt with in the here and now.

So you'd advocate open borders for the US? Allow all the terrorists in for the sake of "morality?"
Just as America suffers from illegal immigration, so does Israel, but their immigrants are slaughtering them! Imagine if we "allowed" it to happen here?
Why should we even consider demanding Israel accept it if we wouldn't?

Every year, at Christmas time, Arafat goes to Bethlehem and tells worshippers that Jesus was in fact "the first Palestinian".

I never knew this. I hope Arafat dies horribly.

Bad example, because they DID own it once.

Which makes Texas/Mexico a good example, since the Jews did own Israel before as well ...

The moral thing is to deal with the plight of people in the here and now. Doing otherwise is to dip into racism and hatred.

You know something? The Israelis tried that. They raised the livings standards of the people who had been living in the West Bank and Gaza after they captured those lands in the '67 war. They raised them above the standard of living of the non-rich in Jordan, Syria and Egypt. Colleges and universities were established.

And what did they get? Sbarro's! Shalhevit Pass! That's what!

If it were upt to me, I'd deal with the plight of the people all right.

Your support for Arabs over Jews will show what you really want

MY support for Arabs over Jews? How in the world did you conclude that I suppoort Arabs in ANYthing from this simple statement:

"you go back three or four thousand years you will find that the land where Isreal now is has been "owned" by quite a few different people."

That's one HUGE leap.

I have no way of knowing if I misjudged your motives

If you had "no way of knowing" why would you judge them to begin with?

I had no motive in stating that simple fact and find it highly insulting for you to assume what you did.

I am very "up" on my old testament history and need no lessons.

Woe to any nation that goes against my people Israel.

Woe to anybody who says anything about Isreal without checking with Yehuda first.

God gave Isreal the land. I don't have an argument with that.Only with replies that so totally twist around what I have said.

Then you also know it's the anti-Christ who causes Israel to give up land for peace, setting them up for destruction? Do you support the anti-Christs contract to create a Palistinian state, or not?
