Oblique: Obscure; Slanted; Not what it appears to be.

An oblique triangle is any triangle that is not a right triangle. It could be an acute triangle (all threee angles of the triangle are less than right angles) or it could be an obtuse triangle (one of the three angles is greater than a right angle). Actually, for the purposes of trigonometry, the class of "oblique triangles" might just as well include right triangles, too. Then the study of oblique triangles is really the study of all triangles.

{Oblique circle} (Projection), a circle whose plane is
oblique to the axis of the primitive plane.

{Oblique fire} (Mil.), a fire the direction of which is not
perpendicular to the line fired at.

{Oblique flank} (Fort.), that part of the curtain whence the

(a) A leaf twisted or inclined from the normal position.
(b) A leaf having one half different from the other.

meet another, makes oblique angles with it.

{Oblique motion} (Mus.), a kind of motion or progression in
which one part ascends or descends, while the other
prolongs or repeats the same tone, as in the accompanying
example.



{Oblique muscle} (Anat.), a muscle acting in a direction
oblique to the mesial plane of the body, or to the
associated muscles; -- applied especially to two muscles
of the eyeball.

{Oblique sphere} (Astron. & Geog.), the celestial or

{Oblique step} (Mil.), a step in marching, by which the
soldier, while advancing, gradually takes ground to the
right or left at an angle of about 25[deg]. It is not now

I hear you. I think it is a little weird that 2 day ago the D.O.T. changed the traffic patterns going into the Lincoln to help traffic move smother. Today you can check the traffic and find out that the tunnel is worse that ever. I also heard WABC this morning that is seems the traffic patterns are being changed every couple of hours. I say there will be no attack today or tomorrow because our Intel knows what is going down and is already working on stopping it.

Yes, it's kind of quiet today. I have to admit the latest postings look more like NFL audibles than anything else. I took a crack at deciphering one of them...

Exactly. If the don't do it, we are okay to assume that al Qaeda has been defeated from the face of the earth.

That's a real smart deduction there. Look if they don't hit us on the 11th then great either it was bunk or our forces were able to stop them.

But to say they have been defeated is quite a stretch. It's gonna take a lot of time to stop them and I suspect maybe even generations. In a few years it may not even be AQ we are dealing with but a group who claims to be it's decendent.

The only way to win this war is to change the culture of the mid east. We have to stop the teachings that have led us to this point over there.

Also for those of you who favor nukeing them, that won't work either because all that will do is breed more hate against us from nations who are/suppose to be our allies. Remember a nuke will not only effect the middle east, it will effect a much wider area because of the fallout and nuclear cloud that will travel across the earth effecting other countries.

If you doubt that then go do some research on what happened with chernobal and the cloud that traveled after that nuclear accident.

I forgot to add </sarcasm> to the end of my reply.

Of course it doesn't mean they've been wiped from the face of the earth. That's the whole point. Some people look at an intelligence source and decide that if it fails, it's completely unreliable. Most people don't understand that even the FBI and CIA and the President, himself, are assaulted with bogus information all the time from a variety of sources, yet they still have to weed through it to find the truth. The threat matrix is non-stop empty threats, but they take it seriously enough to review it EVERY DAY.

If America is going to win the war on terror, we have to accept that there are going to be a lot of headfakes and fabrications. It's the one grain of truth amidst all the crap that makes a 9/11 come to pass... I know it's tiring and it loses its flavor, but we have to remain vigilant. It's our only hope.
