WHY DO WE HUNT?

For some, it is a choice. They must think about it. For others, the urge comes from inside. It is a deep, primitive calling from a time when time was not a word.

Hunting is a survival skill built into our genes.

This little article reminds me of my favorite movie of all time - 2001: A Space Odyssey. In that movie, human beings where nothing but starving vegetarians and easy prey for leopards, and where on the way to extinction. But when they where shown how to use weapons to hunt for meat, it was their salvation and the beginning of their climb to civilization.

"Why do we hunt?"

Because venison tenderloins, not unlike the ones I just marinated in a real butter, herb, onion, sauce to soak overnight, and then will spend 8 slow hours cooking over a real oak and hickory bed of coals tomorrow while the college games are on, are mouth watering delicious, tender, and aren't raised on steroids.

I hunt so I can experience the buck fever that I am horribly afflicted with. I honestly feel sorry for those that don't get it. Leaving Dallas tonight-headed to Dew-will be out hunting in the morning. Last weekend sucked-close to 90 degrees.

Lots of hunters once stalked the forests of France and Germany with different kinds of rifles in hand. Got good at it, want to keep the edge.

Look beneath the surface and you'll find that cowboys and bikers actually have alot in common.

Why do we hunt? As Hank Williams, Jr. would say, "It's a family tradition!"

Country music singers
have always been a real close family
but lately some of my kin folks
have disowned a few others and me
i guess its because
i kinda changed my direction
i guess i went and broke the family tradition

they get on me wanna know Hank
why do you drink?
(Hank) why do you roll smoke?
Why must you live out the songs that you wrote?
over and over
everybody made my prediction
so if i get stoned
I'm just carryin'
on an old family tradition

I am very proud
of my daddys name
although his kinda music
and mine ain't exactly the same
stop and think it over
put yourself in my position
if i get stoned and sing all night long
it's a family tradition

Don't ask me Hank
why do you drink?
(Hank) why do you roll smoke?
Why must you live out the songs that you wrote?
If I'm down in a Honky-Tonk
Some ol' slicks tryin to give me corrections
I'll say leave me alone
I'm singin all night long
it's a family tradition

Lordy, I have loved some ladies
and I have loved Jim Beam
and they both tried to kill me
in 1973
when that doctor asked me
Son how did you get in this condition
I said hey sawbones I'm just carryin on
an old family tradition

So don't ask me Hank
why do you drink?
(Hank) why do you roll smoke?
Why must you live out the songs you wrote?
Stop and think it over
Try and put yourself in my unique position
If I get stoned and sing all night long
It's a family tradition!

We hunt because deep down inside ... every man is a killer.

Liberals deny their very nature.

I hunt because I am human.
Man is the top predator in the world.

And deer, rabbit, elk, pats, woodcock and pheasant are DAMNGOOD eating.

Maybe that's why I get along with me so well since I've been both at one time or another and I have a lot in common with myself.

Er somethin'.
