Ah, yes. We can display artwork of the paperhanger, but avoid at all costs the mere hint of anything Christ-like. This was in Germany. You would still find a crucifix on the walls of many classrooms there. Christmas is called the Holy Nights. There is no alternative liberal term. The standard greeting in Bavaria is Gruess Gott! That's said in the same place an American would say "Good Afternoon"- so in effect you have lots of people running around saying "Greet God" or "Greetings to God" to one another. That's the way it is.
