I know, and the ban does bring alot of attention to the issue. It exposes those who support it.

You know--I think the reason the pro-aborts rose up in such fury is because they know that it's a matter of logic. If you say this form of "abortion" [infanticide] is wrong, it being just a bit further down the birth canal, it does make it harder to claim that the other forms are not only not wrong, they are right (as in a "right").

Not that anyone feels safe in discussing this anymore, but in talking about this we should ascertain if the other person is for the ban on partial birth abortion. Assuming the answer is yes, then you have them explain how it is so different from other forms.

(It they say no, ask them how they would like this operation performed on a puppy.) There is hope! We have the truth (logic)--let's use it!

P.S. Farmfriend--how is the interstate commerce being used here? Please explain.

My Fellow NEOhio and NWPennsylvania Freepers:

I forwarded this link on to my state rep Ron Young and my federal rep Steve LaTourette this morning, as well as my fellow members of the Heritage Club. This is my letter, and it says all that I can say about it:

I am somewhat of an in-control person, when I want to be, given my background and training with the United States Marines.

I do let myself go in spirited exchange, and I get quite animated, especially when discussing politics. That's half the fun of political discussion.

The link listed below discusses D&E abortions. This link originally started out as a discussion about President Bush signing the Partial Birth Abortion prohibition, but someone digressed and included the pictorial on D&E.

I was discussing this picture with my wife Darlene last night before dinner, and I found myself crying, as I am close to doing right now, when describing the procedure that doctors go through when they do this.

Representative Young: what can be done in this state to curb this barbaric practice of literally tearing a human being apart, limb from limb, inside the mother's womb. Partial birth abortion, which has now been banned, (but already the ban has been set aside in our courts), at least kills an infant with a puncture to the back of the skull. This "procedure" dismembers an infant in the mother's womb one piece at a time. I would not inflict this type of torture on my worst enemy.

What can be done?

I agree with the author that it probably; it provided an all-too-easy way for a number of spineless politicians to win a "pro-life" label.

Disagree completely. No politician is going to become known as a pro-lifer because he had the sense to oppose infanticide. That's like passing an anti-lynching law and declaring yourself pro-affirmative action. Can a pro-abort go to the pro-choicers in their state/district and say, "I'm still a pro-choicer, and I signed this bill banning a procedure that even many pro-choicers hate?" Sure he can, and he'll even get the votes of the PBA-ban opponents in his district, because the pro-choicers vote on the basis of fear that if any restriction on abortion is passed on a Tuesday, all women will be barefoot, pregnant and chained to their stoves by Friday afternoon. Can he go to the pro-lifers and say, "Even though I vote pro-abort on every other issue and regularly kiss Kate Michelman's bony tuchis, I'm really one of you because I draw the line at infanticide?" No, he can't. Even with an uninformed electorate (and pro-lifers, heck, even swing voters with prolife tendencies, are seldom uninformed voters) you can't spin "Pro-abortion except when it's a mostly delivered baby" into "Pro-life." I mean, c'mon, is anybody really going to believe Tom Daschle is now a pro-lifer?

This bill is not giving anybody any undeserved pro-life credentials, but even if it did, consider this: Through their reaction to the cutoff of UNFPA funding and this bill, we have the entire abortion industry and a good portion of pro-abort pols on record fervently supporting infanticide and taxpayer-supported forced abortions and sterilizations. They marginalize themselves by showing their true colors and it advances our cause, period.
