I don't think you have to boycott the sponsors of this... Nobody -- I repeat NOBODY -- will listen to this cr*pola for any length of time. You are right -- however if they can fund it then it will exist. There are companies like Viacom and Target that want to see a liberal network succeed and so they may keep it alive as a statement. Liberals are single agenda and disagree with their comrades as much as they disagree with us. An old black woman from the south that goes to church every week and wails about Jesus votes Democratic because she hates "shrub". When she turns this thing on expecting to hear about how "shrub" hates black people she's going to hear that she doesn't pay enough taxes and the elderly are a burden on society and should be executed. Its listeners won't last long; in fact for the first year there will be more conservatives listening than liberals.

The media is not independent enough so he is getting a liberal talk show. Anyone else see any logic in this?
With previews of saying things like "we must disarm our nuclear capability so that terrorists won't get nukes", I don't think they'll get too far.

Here in Nashville, for zample, we have AM 1510 WLAC and FM WWTN. Used to listen to WLAC at night when I was in high school in the '60's. (Quarter to Three by Gary U.S. Bonds was a biggie)
At 3AM their main sponsors used to be Ernie's Record Shop and Royal Crown Hair Dressing with Bo Diddly singing how it made his hair look "gloomified."

The liberals already tried left wing radio. It was called The Ministry of Enlightenment and Propaganda.
Does this mean we get the old World War II planes out and bomb it again?

I can't imagine what stations will be carrying these 16 hours of liberal talk.
Here in Atlanta the well known stations are booked with Neal Boortz, Rush, Hannity, Beck, local Kim Peterson, etc... O'Reilly even slipped in on a sports station in the afternoon. I just don't what stations have the available time unless it is some weak watted station broadcasting out of someone's basement.

Y-A-W-N...Wasn't there a big to-do about liberal talk radio at the beginning of this year? I remember Alan Colmes excitedly rushing off the set of H&C each night so he could do his radio show upstairs. Mario Cuomo (double Y-A-W-N) and Al Franken were lined up for shows as well. Whatever happened to all that?
The only successful liberal radio talk-host I know of is Tom Leykis - who is really a shock-jock and will say whatever outrageous thing to garner ratings among those who are too stupid to understand Howard Stern in his lucid, non-breast obsessed moments. Leykis is a contemptible human being as well. What is he, on his 7th wife by now? I think it was his 5th wife that he slammed into his fireplace in Boston a few years back after getting tanked at a WRKO Christmas party (after which he was subsequently run out of town).
Anyway, it has been proven time and time again that liberalism doesn't sell. That's why PBS and NPR radio need gub'mint and Hollywood weirdo support in order to survive. It's not as if real companies would pay good, hard-earned money to sponsor that swill.

The thing that Liberals fail to understand about AM radio... the very thing that will make this venture fail... is that it is not a 'Conservative' forum. It is a relatively unregulated broadcast medium that had been all but forgotten. It is a pure market for ideas and discussion. As such, it is not, by its nature Liberal or Conservative. Subject to choice in the absense of state restriction, it will however ultimately reflect the values of its culture like any free market and cater in that direction accordingly.
That being said, what aspect of this market does this new Broadcasting venue hope to capitalize on? What do they have to offer?
By all means, let them try. It will only serve to shatter their own paradigms about AM radio and stall any prosepcts of further regulation. It may ultimately show the public that there is no need of any National Public Radio. I hope they succeed and are actually able to peddle their ideas on this forum. Like any bad product, consumers will finally get a look at the quality and value that come with Leftists liberalism; cheap shiny trinkets that cost twice as much as the real thing... and never work.

My eyes perked up when I saw "venture capitalist". If a liberal is a VC it means he invested heavily in the dot com boom and then got out when he saw it was going to tank. My guess is this asswipe's path is littered with thousands of bodies who lost their life savings after he
bolted from his
ventures.
I little investigation into his financial background might be interesting.
BTW - Being a VC doesn't mean he knows squat about a business plan, just that he invested in someone else's.

Formerly smart people descend into madness all the time. Too true -- even congressional dems had a modicum of intelligence once upon a time. Now look at them.

The guys at DTR are doomed to failure, simply because of the numbers and their own stupidity.
Phantom Lord in post #37 talks of their stupidity. The numbers indicate a total lack of poularity:
503 members.... pathetic
I went to DTR via your link and looked at the opening page, which lists the latest posts. I counted about 50 listings on page one. The names of the 'last post by' listed about 10-12 different people.
The number of responses to posts was usually from 0 to 3 and was rarely in double digits. higest number I saw was 43.
Compare to Free Republic where often times we have over 100 responses, with 250-300 being seen fairly often.
BTW, They have deleted all of my old postings, it is as if I never existd there. LOL. I hope they spent a lot of time to do that.

Interesting that this "announcement" came on WWPR in Bradenton. I worked in Bradenton for two years, I live in St. Petersburg ("the first city north of Bradenton over the Skyway Bridge"). Nobody outside of Bradenton in "the greater Tampa Bay area" knows about this station, and I'd bet you half of the people in Manatee County haven't heard of it either. Calls itself "Pier 1490" and it apparently used to have a website (www.pier1490.com) but it's not online anymore. A couple of years ago I stumbled onto it--oldies, and then on weekends it goes all-Spanish language. Never heard of Bob Beck (sounds like maybe he's trying to confuse folks with Glenn Beck, who was "local" at WLFA 970 Tampa until he "went national" two years ago).

"How does a venture capitalist do a radio show professing the greatness of communism?"
Like all communists (and left-wing types), he is a hypocrite.
