No underestimating here. AQ is formidable with or without him.

But a picture still is worth a thousand words. Remembering his lust for recognition and his need for display, one would think he would use an easily made video of himself instead of an audio tape.

Unless he's not up to the task. So to speak.

DOHA, Oct 18 (AFP) - Al-Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden threatened Saturday to carry out new suicide missions in the United States and to attack any forces joining the US-led coalition in Iraq, in a tape broadcast by Qatar's Al-Jazeera satellite channel.

"We will go on fighting you and we will carry on martyrdom (suicide) operations in and outside the United States until you stop being unjust," he warned in an audiotaped "message to the American people" aired by the Doha station.

"We reserve the right to retaliate at the proper time and place against all countries that take part in this unjust war (against Iraq), namely Britain, Spain, Australia Poland, Japan and Italy," said the mastermind of the September 11 suicide hijackings in the United States.

"Islamic countries that take part will not be excluded. This applies particularly to the Gulf states, chiefly Kuwait, (which served as) launchpad for the crusader forces."

Al-Jazeera said bin Laden was addressing two audio messages to the Iraqi and American peoples saying that the United States "has got bogged down in Iraq and advising the US army to leave it."

Word is on MSNBC that he also referenced the Iraqi governing council, threatened the countries that took part in the war on Iraq, threatened President Bush by name (which shows that if it is him he's clearly personalized this to a degree we haven't seen before), and singled out Kuwait for "judgement."

Sounds like he has endorsed the lefty Democrats position on Iraq

Don't laugh - this should be a serious concern for Freepeers everywhere given the Dems expertise in solictiting and spending foreign money on winning elections. It is a certainty that this fact will not be missed by al Qaeda and bin Laden. What better way to defeat the U.S. than to pour money into the Dems in 2004 and help put a friend in the White House. I fully expect to see Saudi/al Queda money flowing into this election by means that will not be discoverable until 2005.

This would be the best money they could spend and it is already clear that al Queda and the Democrat Party have a common enemy and both realize that "an enemy of my enemy is my friend."

Listen to Kennedy and bin Laden. Can you tell the difference?
