President Bush's grandfather was a director of a bank seized by the federal government because of its ties to a German industrialist who helped bankroll Adolf Hitler's rise to power, government documents show.

Prescott Bush was one of seven directors of Union Banking Corp., a New York investment bank owned by a bank controlled by the Thyssen family, according to recently declassified National Archives documents reviewed by The Associated Press.

"Fritz Thyssen broke with the Nazis in 1938 over their persecution of Catholics and Jews, and fled to Switzerland. He later was arrested and spent 1941 to 1945 in a Nazi prison. His brother lived in Switzerland from 1932 to 1947 but continued to operate businesses in Germany."
The above information is always conveniently overlooked in any account (almost always from Leftist/Dem sources) of this matter that I have read. After Thyssen's break with the Nazi party he was on the run as he was considered to be a traitor and an enemy to the party. He was eventually captured by the Nazis (I believe in France) and thrown into prison where he stayed until after the allied victory.

Ford, GM, Krupp all had connections with the Nazi party and supported them throughout the war with their production and war machines.

Actually, Ford and GM had very little control over their overseas divisions. The suits thousands of miles away in Detroit had far less input than the Waffen-SS officer ten yards down the hall with a StG44 did.

One of the Krupps I talked to went to the University of Chicago prior to the war to learn the latest in metallurgy to take back to Germany.

Relevant words bolded.

Any director of GM or Ford could be accused of Nazi leanings.

The only one that truly applied to was Henry Ford himself.

There is an interesting sidelight to the war that was observed by our troops in Germany. There was never a bombing run on any of these factories connected to our automakers and Krupp, even though they were involved in supporting the war effort of the Axis.

Since the circular error probable for a bomb run was five miles in those pre-LGB/JDAM days, your claim is garbage.

People in high places wanted those factories intact when the war ended.

Which explains why Ford and GM got tens of millions in compensation for damage to those factories when they got bombed and/or shot up during ground fighting in the course of the war.

The AP article leaves out a lot of historical context that is critical to understanding why these men raised the capital to help Hitler take over a country and raise a huge army.

In 1917 Kaiser Bill sent Lenin from Switzerland to St. Petersburg in the famous Sealed Train to overthrow Kerensky’s government and get Russia out of the war. The Kaiser’s plan worked. Lenin’s Bolsheviks struck a separate peace with Germany and pulled Russia out of the war, throwing a monkey wrench into the Allies’ war plans and throwing the US into general political hysteria.

In 1919 an Anglo-American expeditionary force landed on Russia’s Pacific coast to strangle the Bolshevik infant in its cradle, but the force was withdrawn because it was too small and had no achievable mission.

During the Twenties, the international banking community feared that once Lenin had stabilized the Soviet Union and ended its civil war, he would send his barbarian hordes to conquer central and western Europe. Once Lenin died, Trotsky made this one of his highest priorities, along with a half-baked plan for getting American blacks to rebel and install a communist government in Red Dixie. Fortunately, Stalin had a higher priority, which was consolidating power at home.

Anyone who could read a map of Europe understood that a strong and stable Germany was critical for containing the Soviets. But the Weimar constitution had a fatal flaw: It permitted political parties to maintain their own uniformed militias. The Germany Communist Party had the biggest and toughest militia in the country, and seasoned observers saw a communist takeover of Germany as inevitable -- unless someone intervened.

Once Hitler’s Nazi militia proved its mettle in the streets, bankers began to funnel money to Hitler as Germany’s last hope. When he achieved power, Hitler removed the genuine socialists from his party in the Night of the Long Knives, allied with the military/industrial complex and the Prussian junker class, and began to gird for war.

War is all about credit. How did Hitler take a country with a thoroughly debauched currency and raise the capital to build the biggest and best military machine in Europe? The dirty little secret of the international baking community in general -- and the American banking community in particular -- was the role they played in financing Hitler. All parties to this plan understood that the long range goal was to build the German army into a force that would invade and topple the communist regime in Moscow (Operation Barbarossa).

Thus, when Hitler’s invasion of Poland brought declarations of war from England and France -- and the year-long “phony war” -- the bankers were certain that once Hitler violated his pact with Stalin and sent his troops into the Russian heartland, it would be a simple matter for England and France to rescind their declarations of war and ally with Hitler in the great campaign to rid the world of Stalin and his ilk.

But the bankers discovered too late that Hitler, like Lenin, was a historical wild card. Hitler was not supposed to invade France, Norway, half of Europe, bomb England and prepare to invade it. Rudolf Hess’ airplane flight to England was a last-ditch attempt to pull together support for an Anglo-German alliance against the Soviets. The final opening of Operation Barbarossa was too tempting for the bankers, and they continued to funnel money to Hitler even after the American declaration of war. The Walker, Bush, Dulles and Harriman families were up to their necks in a gambit that had looked good on paper but had blown up in their faces.

Ironically, when the war ended their worst nightmare had been realized. Stalin’s hordes had conquered all of eastern Europe, half of central Europe, and were on the verge of taking western Europe. The “wise men” of Wall Street and the Foreign Policy Community then drafted the US to unite western Europe and rebuild it so as to form a bulwark against the Soviet communists, creating NATO in the process. We call the result of that action the Cold War.

The Real Al Gore Sr.(A Must Read)

WorldNetDaily
12-12-98 Joseph Farah

(Not for commercial use, solely for "fair use" discussion and education.)

Some people will no doubt object to this column. After all, you're not supposed to speak ill of the dead -- especially the recent dead. But with all the flowery tributes to Al Gore Sr. in the last few days, I figure somebody has to speak the truth about this man who, in his lifetime, collaborated with and profited handsomely from evil.

Vice President Al Gore eulogized his father Tuesday as a politician driven by "conscience" who never forgot his humble upbringing and always tried to help others.

"Dad, your whole life has been an inspiration,'' Gore said, his voice cracking slightly.

I believe Al Jr. when he says that. And it scares the hell out of me.

To appreciate what I'm about to tell you with regard to Al Gore Sr., you first must familiarize yourself with a man by the name of Armand Hammer -- worth more than a few columns himself.

Hammer was a personal friend of V.I. Lenin. He was known as Lenin's "path" to America's financial resources -- in other words, the guy who would sell us the rope with which we would be hanged. Hammer was the first Western businessman to participate in KGB-controlled joint ventures in the Soviet Union. The son of Julius Hammer, a founder of the Socialist Labor Party and later the Communist Party USA who served time in Sing Sing for performing illegal abortions, Armand was called the "Capitalist Prince" by the KGB. Hammer dutifully served the Soviets for seven decades and became the first -- and only -- American capitalist to be awarded the Order of Lenin.

Edward J. Epstein's "Dossier: The Secret History of Armand Hammer" is must reading for anyone who wants to understand how so-called "capitalists" like Hammer can serve as willing and able tools of revolutionary Marxists and global socialists.

Lenin told Stalin about Hammer: "This is a small path leading to the American 'business' world, and this path should be made use of in every way." To the Soviet Union in his day, Hammer was a figure with much in common with the contemporary spy-cum-billionaire Mochtar Riady -- doing the bidding of socialist tyrants -- and making a bundle in the process.

Hammer was part-time spy, part-time money-launderer, part-time industrialist -- but a full-time traitor to the United States of America.

But I digress. The story for today is how Hammer's corrupt, evil career was aided in numerous ways by Vice President Al Gore's Daddy, who was a partner in various Hammer enterprises for more than four decades. As Epstein documents in "Dossier," the elder Gore helped Hammer make connections with a series of U.S. presidents and used his influence to help Hammer's Occidental Petroleum company gain access to foreign political leaders. But, most importantly, it was Gore who helped stop the FBI from pursuing an investigation of the industrialist as a Soviet agent of influence.

It seems Al Gore Sr. knew something about "controlling legal authorities" and obstruction of justice himself. Like father, like son.

Conscience? Humble beginnings? When the elder Gore retired from the Senate, he received a $500,000-a-year job as head of Occidental's coal division. So, it would seem, the cleanest money in Al Gore's family tree came from tobacco. The really dirty, blood money came direct from Moscow for services rendered to Communist totalitarians and their pseudo-capitalist puppet, errand boys. Tell me about conscience, Al.

After the younger Gore was elected to the Senate in 1980, he continued a tradition begun by his father by inviting Hammer into the "senators only" section during President Reagan's inauguration.

Al Jr. has emulated his Dad in other ways, too. Today he serves as co-chairman of an Russian-U.S. commission intended to help the next generation of Armand Hammer-style "Capitalist Princes" develop contacts with KGB-dominated businesses.

In 1994, the vice president established U.S.-Russian Joint Commission on Economic and Technical Cooperation, better known as the Gore-Chernomyrdin Commission. The purpose of the commission is to help establish joint ventures in space exploration, science and technology, defense conversion, environmental initiatives, public health issues, agribusiness and economic development. The Russian side of this equation is littered with shadowy figures with one foot in the intelligence community and the other in mob-related activities.

Sound familiar? Like father, like son. A daily radio broadcast adaptation of Joseph Farah's commentaries can be heard at http://www.ktkz.com/

So let me see if I have this right: allegations of then-President 'toon's rape of Juanita Broadderick three decades ago were too old to be relevant, but allegations of President Bush's grandfather working with someone who bankrolled Hitler eight decades ago are AP national news??

Do we not still prosecute the nazi guards when we can find them.....

Do we also prosecute the grandchildren of people who once worked with someone who gave money to a NAZI guard but repudiated said guard after he started working at the camp?

This is a new posting low for the SoBs, Sons of Buchanan.

Madeline Albright's great great uncle had sexual relations with Joe Kennedy's first cousins' goat.

Is that why Teddy felt compelled to let Mary Jo drown, inasmuch as her grandfather's cat used to urinate on tommy daschole's great great aunt's flowers?

The relevant word is ACCUSED. Similar to ACCUSED as Prescott Bush was ACCUSED. As far as the factories in Germany, there was no way that they weren't to be used for the benefit of the nation in which they were located. As far as the air raids on Ford, GM, and Krupp Steel, they were not raided, but did suffer damage from ground attack forces and artillery. I would imagine the compensation covered this damage.

It is hard to control a group of ground forces when the enemy is using a site as a defensive position. Krupp Steel was very heavily involved in the V2 rockets that were used against England in the Battle of Britain. As far as the JDam comment being a bunch of garbage, I would advise you that every building in Schweinfurt housing their ball bearing factories were leveled, not by pin-point accuracy, but by massive bombing.

A five mile radius as you mentioned is a little off the mark, the bombardiers were capable of coming within a half mile at 10,000 ft. altitude in spite of wind, drift, and density. Our artillery was capable of pin-point accuracy up to eight miles after several rounds spent getting on target. The ballistics and quality of our bores would hold the rounds within a five foot circle at eight miles. The variables such as changing wind speed and direction, incoming moisture and cold fronts would cause a parameter to widen but could be overcome in a round or two after adjustments.

Wait a minute...President Bush's grandfather was a DIRECTOR of a bank that had a CLIENT who was, in turn, a supporter of Hitler??? And then the article says...Prescott had no actual involvement with this bank's client?

What is this...a smear of what????

Does this mean that anyone who sits on the Board of Directors of ANY BANK is responsible for the conduct of EVERY CLIENT?

This is guilt by NON-association. Are the liberals THIS desparate???

LOL

I guess trying to make Arnold into a Nazi didn't work...so moving on to Bush was the only thing left to do.

As far as the factories in Germany, there was no way that they weren't to be used for the benefit of the nation in which they were located.

Exactly. And it would have happened no matter what the suits in Detroit said--because while the suit in Detroit is thousands of miles away, the Nazi waving a StG44 is hanging around right outside the factory gate.

As far as the air raids on Ford, GM, and Krupp Steel, they were not raided,

Actually, they were. I would suggest reading Jablonsky's "Air War" for more detail; he comments extensively on the ironies of trying to bomb Opel plants and the like.

Whatever wasn't hit, it wasn't for a lack of trying, only a lack of accuracy. Like I said, the CEP for an air raid back in those days was five miles. That might as well be the next time zone unless you're using PGMs or nukes.

but did suffer damage from ground attack forces and artillery. I would imagine the compensation covered this damage.

And air raid damage.

I would advise you that every building in Schweinfurt housing their ball bearing factories were leveled, not by pin-point accuracy, but by massive bombing.

Actually, they weren't.

One of the most-heavily classified documents of the post-WW2 era was the United States Strategic Bombing Survey, or USSBS. The Army Air Force (and the US Air Force) fought like demons to keep it classified. Why? Because the USSBS found that strategic bombing did not work. Take away strategic bombing, and you've taken away the raison d'etre for an independent air force.

A five mile radius as you mentioned is a little off the mark, the bombardiers were capable of coming within a half mile at 10,000 ft. altitude in spite of wind, drift, and density.

As long as the locals weren't shooting at them. That widened the CEP by a factor of ten.

No charges were brought against Union Banking's American directors. The federal government was too busy trying to fight the war, said Donald Goldstein, a professor of public and international affairs at the University of Pittsburgh.

Golly. If the federal government was fighting the war, how did so many seamen, soldiers and Marines get killed and so many bureaucrats not?

I don't know about you two, but that there little tid-bit did it for me!!!

What is this "sins of the fathers" bull-roar anyway. Are we playing NYTines like they tried desperately to do to Schwarzenegger?

This is certainly not any kind of "news!" It smells of either a crack-pot agenda or of desperate leftists and it doesn't smell too good.

You have to ask yourselves... who profits from stuff like this? Is it really helpful to anyone? Anyone at all?

Brian, I've enjoyed many of your threads, but this one is more than a little disgusting. You can do better than this in your desire to post "breaking news!" This is not even "news" at all, in my not so humble opinon!
