Might be appropriate in some cases. People call 911 because they know the number and usually there’s no one else to call.
A better approach might be for one responding officer to have a non-lethal weapon (taser, chemical, beanbag round) at the ready in case that’s all that’s needed.
Only a fool of a camera jockey would ride along in that situation.
And the brave SJWs will, in turn, call in the Police.
I would not call 911 if in danger but call Mr. 1911 and his big brother A10 and if calling long distance Mr. Remington 700 300 Win Mag.
Isn't that what they also say at the Bunny Ranch in Nevada?
Ping.
Social workers as a group routinely identify with the victim.
Social workers as a group routinely identify with the perceived victim.
So do cops.
What a great sequel to Breaking Bad. Jesse Pinkman got cleaned up, grew up, and because a Social Worker to deal with his past.Except as he knocking on doors, he discovers what people need: Really good meth.......and he brings in his two side kicks to handle distribution........ Biotch.
We’re so lucky to have a Ken doll look-a-like as mayor. Doesn’t go much farther than that though.
I think the police department as a whole should refuse to handle any and all domestic dispute cases, they are after all situations that call for counseling not policing, not to mention one of the most dangerous calls for law enforcement.
Most cities that have a social worker department have long waiting lists for clients to see them, and it can take weeks to get an on-site inspection.
I can’t imagine they have enough social workers sitting around to actually make a call within the 10 minutes that might be necessary to prevent some guy from killing his kids or his girlfriend.
There’s a reason we have cops in cars driving all over the city, so that they can respond relatively quickly, and they are often too late.
Are we going to hire a bunch of new social workers and have them driving around in their cars watching for pro-active cases where social working is called for?
In england, some say that 89 people a day die waiting to see a social worker. I can’t find any kind of statistics like that in the u.S., if you search for people dying waiting for social workers, Google decides you should know how many social workers are dying of COVID while waiting for test results.
“Look Miss Lady, I am gettin’ my nails done right now so you’re gonna’ have to wait. I will be there when I can get there”.
Bad boys, bad boys
Youre misunderstood
Youre misunderstood, but I know youre good
Bad boys, bad boys
Hope I didnt misgender
Hope I didnt misgender, cause Im not here to hinder
Soy Boy, Soy Boy ...
Whatcha gonna do?
Whatcha gonna do when they come for you?
Actually, it might work.
Most of what social workers do is sign everyone up for government services.
So I can see them coming into a tense situation and saying “ hey, if you settle down I’ll get you free housing, food stamps, sign you up for WIC, a get you some bus passes.”
Problem solved!
....and that they have bulletproof clipboards.
Social workers aren’t trained to deal with violent or mentally ill individuals. I worked as a Safety Officer in NY State’s Mental Hygiene Department for about a year prior to taking a job as Correctional Officer. I worked at Hutchings Psych Center in Syracuse, NY. When therapy supervisors and assistants on the units of the psych center had a resident that was acting out and couldn’t be controlled, they called us to restrain them. And you couldn’t use cuffs on them because they weren’t criminals. If you transferred them from an outside hospital to the psych unit for admission, they could be cuffed, but once you got them there, the cuffs had to come off. I took the job in Corrections basically because it paid more. I figured if I was going to have to roll on people to restrain them, I might as well do it in a prison, and get paid more. We had crazies in the prison system too, because Mario Cuomo emptied out the psych centers, and those people had to end up somewhere.
The ones that will get this duty will be the newbies, right out of college with no experience. The social workers with more seniority aren't going to put themselves in that position.
