I sat through 6 hours of town halls. Here’s what I learned about impeachment.

SOUTH BARRINGTON, Ill. — Nearly every voter I met here felt the need to remind me.

“This is a Republican district, you know.”

For Democrats, it was a reflection of their pride that this suburban Chicago district flipped from red to blue last year after more than 45 years as a reliable Republican stronghold. Conservatives, on the other hand, wanted to emphasize to me that Rep. Sean Casten is just too liberal for Illinois’ 6th Congressional District, and that voters here support President Donald Trump and his agenda.

Many of those same Republicans — who lived for nearly five decades under GOP Reps. Henry J. Hyde and Peter Roskam — had never had a Democratic representative in their lifetime.

But even more than that, they never thought that this particular Democrat would be leaning so forcefully into an impeachment inquiry against a Republican president.

Some people are slow learners.

Marketing and money is how Casten got in!

I noted in more than just Casten’s district the dems were running “moderate” dems who were clean cut, young looking men in their early 40s with cute wives and cute young children—big on marketing to busy mid to late 30 year old millennial voters who don’t pay much attention attention beyond popular culture issues...

A lot of “anti-gun” and “pro-choice” money flooded into Roskum’s district...Never seen so much outside issue signage...Sadly, those were two issues on which Roskum was strong.

I am not sure Roskum’s heart was in the election...As an aside he was tepid on Trump...voted party line (even if it did not support Trump).

Was it stolen, like other "close" Dem victories in 2018?

Sadly Casten got 53.6%, Roskam 46.4% - not sure that is what most would define as close enough to be stolen, and there are lots of GOP poll watchers and judges so I would think it is hard to cheat.

This used to be one of the strongest GOP districts in the US :(

So, a hard-core Trumper needs to run against this clown, this moron and win big. And then spend the victory speech castigating this asshole for an hour.

This nancyboy got himself a Politico feature and hope someone in his District wads it up in his face. Because you’ll notice the dingleberry apparently takes the bait, so someone could punk him on video fairly easy.

So they have a radical Democrat in Henry Hyde’s old district? That’ll teach em about ‘I vote for the person, not for the party’ nonsense. I hope they undo their mistake next year.

I read the entire article, and it's a waste of time. This congress critter has jumped on the impeach wagon and is now defending his position with such logic bits as telling a woman that she "is going down a rabbit hole" when she disagrees with him.

If the pubbies run a real conservative, this putz is going to be a one term congress critter.

I can just see that sanctimonious scummy leftist telling the constituent she is going down a “rabbit hole” because she had the temerity to bring up things that the politician is ignorant of or unaware of.

I have done complicated things in my life that to the uneducated or ignorant, look completely as if I am going down a “rabbit hole”.

To me, the travesty of what has been happening since Tuesday, November 8, 2016 to the duly elected President is in no way a “Rabbit Hole” except to those who are too stupid to see, those who are too uninformed to see, or those who understand fully what is happening but accept “rabbit hole” as a synonym for “conservative conspiracy” for their own political purposes.

I generally don’t hold Leftists in high regard for intelligence, so I assume this Democrat clown really believes the pap his or her party feeds him.

“I am not sure Roskum’s heart was in the election...”

Roskam lost because he deserved to. He ran a crappy campaign.

Well, that is what I meant. He did not run a good campaign...He did not really care—and I might add that he never was responsive to any of my concerns—not that any pols truly ever are.

That said, more outside money poured in to Casten’s campaign than I have ever seen in a House race here.

Which would be the nuts, because Congresscritters need 2 terms to vest that lovely overfed pension!

Impeachment in 2019 is like the Obamacare vote in 2009. A bunch of Democrats lied their way into office by claiming to be “moderate”. They then were bullied into voting for Obamacare in 2009 and got fired for it by the voters in 2010.

Impeachment is stripping off all the fake “moderate” campaign rhetoric the 2018 Dems used to win those Red and Purple districts. There are in a lose-lose position. Don’t vote for impeachment and lose all the big fat checks from the lunatic Democrat Donor class Vote for impeachment and lose any chance to lie your way back into office in 2020.
