There are pretty clear indications in the public record that Jim Hood supported Hillary Clinton in 2016. However, he won’t do anything to confirm or deny that fact pattern in the midst of the 2019 in the race to be Mississippi’s next governor. When given a chance to clarify his record on the issue, he went out of his way not to provide any sense of how he aligns his politics nationally.
Even though Jim Hood was a pledged delegate to Clinton in 2016, he won’t answer direct questions about whether in fact he voted for her based on questions posed by Y’all Politics.
In researching another story about the three major gubernatorial candidates’ positions about their tendencies for the appointment power of the governor, which will run later, YP asked all three candidates about where they aligned politically with the 2016 election as a barometer.
While his opponents were open about their 2016 Presidential selections (spoiler – Tate Reeves supported Donald Trump and David Singletary supported Libertarian candidate Gary Johnson), Hood refused to answer the question directly and instead offered a blanket non-response, which said in part, “Jim Hood is focused on his race for governor and the failed leadership of Tate Reeves.”
