What a class act the Trumps are proving to be in this time of national mouring. I wish I could say the same of so many here in FR who must chafe at the Trump’s acts of kindness and consolation toward the Bush family.

I’m curious, what were your impressions of GHW Bush at the time? Both politically and as CIC?
He seemed to treat everyone as important, even guards.
In other words he was the opposite of Hillary.

Agreed. President Trump has more class in his little finger than the sum total of all the Class in the bottom-feeding half of his FR supporters.
If PDJT shared any DNA in common with the "crass, not class" half of FR's contingent of his (alleged) supporters, he would now be tweeting, "NWO! Failed OneTermer! NWO! Read My Lips! NWO! Souter! NWO! Iran-Contra! NWO! Jennifer Fitzgerald!"
Of course, the writer of the article couldn’t resist bashing the Trumps, referring to the “much mocked” White House Christmas decorations and stating that Trump used Twitter to praise 41 in between attacking others.

Yep - never fails to greet/salute/shake hands with the military at the stairs of AF One or any other place they meet up - doesn’t just “limp-wrist” a fake salute, but stops and renders a salute.....he’s as real as they come and that’s refreshing.
My favorite story is about Barbara sending 41 out to give a muffler to a secret service guard and telling him that Barbara ordered him to put it on. I have my political differences with the Bush clan but still remained convinced they had class.
When my mother was first showing signs of dementia they asked her who the president of the US was. She told them she didn’t remember but she sure did like his wife, Barbara Bush. We wrote the WH and told them the story. BB wrote the sweetest note to mother in return. They genuinely seem to care.
The Bush clan is as deep state as it gets, but he served bravely in WWII and for that he will always be a hero.
Trump is as classy as it gets when it is appropriate and I bet he and GW agreed about the trashing from the Commie media. Bet GW wishes he would have fought back.
I was detailed to the WH immediately after 9/11 and worked for W, indirectly of course, for 15 months while the federal agencies went from crisis mode to incompetence and bureaucracy as usual. I liked W personally, although I disagreed vehemently with some of his policies and decisions. I made it a point to get to know some of the cooks, bakers and stewards in the WH mess. To a person, they loved the Bushes and a few had been there during Bush 41. To say that Barbara and GHWB were loved and respected would be a gross understatement. A really good friend of mine played golf with GHWB a few times and absolutely loved the guy.
I always suspected the cherries. ;^)
