When President Donald Trump didn’t attend Barbara Bush’s funeral earlier this year, it stoked chatter about a rivalry between the two powerful families who have a history of sniping at each other.
The former first lady criticized Trump during the 2016 campaign for saying “terrible things” about women and the military, and was long displeased with Trump’s insults toward her husband and sons.
But many of the family’s confidants said Saturday former President George H.W. Bush wished to put that all aside when it came to Trump attending his funeral.
“If anybody at anytime knew anything about the 41st president of the United States, they would completely and totally understand that he would welcome the current occupant 100 percent,” said an aide in the office of the former president. “This is the way the country says goodbye to presidents.”
Trump said Saturday in Argentina that he spoke with former President George W. Bush and Jeb Bush this morning to offer condolences. He also said the late president Bush was a "wonderful" and "very fine man." He and first lady Melania Trump will attend Bush’s funeral at the National Cathedral, the White House said....

Trump has taken the high road and been classy on this, but I doubt the crazy Trump haters are able to control themselves.
I don’t think was bitter. Revealing yes. Voting for Hillary is all you need to know. Even Jerald Ford excused RR and wouldn’t vote for Carter.

Well, he was a president. History has not judged him in great light. But he was still a president and deserves all the pomp required and called for. A much as I disliked the previous president...he too deserves all the pomp reserved for presidents that pass on. Same with Carter.... Agree or not politically, they were our presdients. I will follow my mother’s advice here and be polite.
Ex-presidents should have a one day funeral and leave it that. Our political class is far too impressed with itself.

Well you gotta get the body from the funeral home to the gravesite. Folks need to arrive by mule to the funeral, etc. But yeah...a week of this will overshadow everything in the news...kinda strange...since they hated the guy.
Ain’t that the truth.
I sincerely hope that President Trumps security detail will be fully alert at the funeral of President H W Bush.

Trump emasculated Jeb during the campaign. I am surprised Bush wanted him anywhere near the funeral. When you insult people like trump did during the campaign you have to expect to not always get invited. This shows some class on Biushes’ part
