Fellow Citizens of Freedom,

America’s Founding Fathers imbued the nation with a deep seated understanding of and passion for Liberty that is an inspiration to the world.

As an Australian active in 1945 commemoration in Indonesia, a nation which won independence in that year, I am a huge admirer of Douglas MacArthur.

In an open letter to President Trump, I examine America’s enduring spirit of freedom and linked capacity for self-examination and redirection.

Sorry to disagree, the real hero was General Smedley Darlington Butler, who stood up to The Business Plot when MacArthur was the general whom the House of Morgan acting on behalf of the House of DuPont wanted to install as military President of the US after FDR taking the country off the gold standard halved their assets overnight. MacArthur was too unpopular, having fired on veterans camped in a Washington DC park demanding their WW1 veterans' bonus be delivered 14 years early. We came close to losing our freedom.
