2020 Democratic Primary Will be a Stampede, and Bernie is the Early Favorite
Legal Insurrection ^ | November 25, 2017 | Mike LaChance

Democrats and many people in media mocked the GOP for having 17 candidates in the 2016 Republican primary. Now that the Clintons are out of the way however, Democrats are expected to have a massive field of candidates in 2020.

Amie Parnes writes at The Hill:

How Dem insiders rank the 2020 contenders

Democrats predict that as many as 30 candidates will compete in their party’s presidential primary in 2020.

And while it’s still too early to say who might come out on top, buzz is building around some potential candidates, even as other hopefuls fade to the background.

A year after a devastating 2016 defeat, Democrats are craving new faces with fresh ideas. Yet many of their leading contenders for the White House in 2020 are politicians who have been around for decades.

There’s also no clear standout in the potential field.

“You have a bunch of Celine Dions but there’s no Beatles,” said Phil Singer, a Democratic strategist who served as press secretary on Hillary Clinton’s 2008 presidential run.

The fortunes of potential candidates can change quickly. Sen. Al Franken (D-Minn.), for example, was regarded just a few weeks ago as a potential dark horse candidate in 2020, but that changed instantly when sexual misconduct charges surfaced against him.

Parnes singles out six names that came up when Democratic insiders were asked about the race.

Bernie Sanders Joe Biden Elizabeth Warren Kamala Harris Sherrod Brown Deval Patrick

The problem the Democrats face is that the only people with national name recognition will be senior citizens by the time the election rolls around.

Former DNC chair Donna Brazile agrees on the question of quantity.

David Rutz of the Washington Free Beacon:

Brazile Predicts at Least 25 People Will Seek Democratic Presidential Nomination in 2020

Former Democratic National Committee interim chair Donna Brazile predicted a massive field of 2020 presidential candidates on Tuesday, telling MSNBC’s Chris Matthews she foresees 25 potential Democratic contenders.

Matthews asked Brazile about possible candidates like Sen. Bernie Sanders (I., Vt.) and Joe Biden, who are 76 and 75, respectively, and wondered if there should be an “outer age where you’re just too old to run” for presidents.

“Chris, I predict tonight that there will be literally over 25 people who will consider running for president,” she said. “Perhaps Joe Biden, Bernie Sanders.”

Other rumored contenders include Sens. Cory Booker (D., N.J.), Kirsten Gillibrand (D., N.Y.), Elizabeth Warren (D., Mass.), Kamala Harris (D., Calif.), Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe, Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo and Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti.

It’s gonna be chaos in 2020 for them, and of course out there lurking is deranged Hillary who won’t go away quietly.

Will the U.S. elect a full blown socialist? Normally, I would say no but OTOH, Obama was elected twice. Of course he didn’t call himself a socialist.

I’ve been studying Bernie for years. There is a ton of material the lamestream media has overlooked on Bernie.

The facts on him must come out AFTER he gets the nomination. If Trump were to get so lucky as to get him for an opponent, Bernie will be toast.

I’ve got a fiver that says Bernie is the nominee. The left feels he got the shaft so now they will try to make it right by giving him a shot.

They still don’t get that he’s a socialist and we are a capitalist nation. The two are like motor oil and water. They can only exist at full strength separate from each other. When mixed they both become a mess not good for anything.

Why is the left can’t comprehend facts like socialism has never worked anywhere it has ever been tried in the history of mankind? It’s hard to believe even leftists are that freaking hard headed and stupid. Maybe it’s forced ignorance which makes them untrainable and unteachable.

More like the Massachusetts Squaw and Kamala Harris. The wave of sexual harassment allegations against powerful leftist men in the entertainment world and in DC has all been part of a coordinated hit job to clear the way for an all woman ticket in 2020 for the Democrats.

Sundance observes that this is the same “splitter strategy” that the GOPe tried in 2016 to ensure a Jeb(!) victory - thwarted only by Trump and those of us who were on to them. He points out that Democrat voters are and will be too dense to see this coming, and even though the DNC will probably “get rid of” the Superdelegates in an appearance of “reform,” they will still totally control the process and the choice of nominee via the splitter strategy.

Right now, if I had to make a bet, I would put $5 on the Hildebeast.

Her Thighness is not going away. Her minions in the Media and at the DNC are largely still in place. I won't bet on her getting indicted for her crimes. Frankly, I don't know how you get a conviction over bribery for Uranium One based on how the Supreme Court overturned the conviction of Gov. McDonnell because the Government could not demonstrate an unambiguous quid pro quo. Besides, Democrat voters don't know or care about Uranium One and will see any investigation as political prosecution.

Maybe Corey Booker could pull off another Obama-like insurgency, but I doubt it.

The left knows all of that stuff.

It’s the POWER they want. Nothing else.
