At Least Republicans Are Controlled By Their Voters

Turmoil has been the order of the day among leaders of both the Republican and Democratic parties. Listing all the many concerns of millions of voters who have been loyalists of either party would require a book.

But a book by Donna Brazile, formerly chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee, makes one difference between the two parties crystal clear. It is that Democrat leaders, who frequently present themselves as the real voice of the people of America, are no such thing.

It was made clear more than a year ago that, despite the best efforts of many in the Republican Party establishment, GOP voters were in the driver’s seat. That happened when Donald Trump won the party’s nomination for president. Later, he went on to win the general election, largely because his message that “the swamp” in Washington needs to be drained resonated with many voters.

Contrast that to what happened to Democrats. Their nominee was former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. She was selected by the Democrat establishment, which made certain upstart Sen. Bernie Sanders had no chance of winning the nomination for president.

Brazile’s new book, “Hacks: The Inside Story of the Break-ins and Breakdown That Put Donald Trump in the White House,” fills in some of the blanks. Brazile makes it clear that right up until a couple of months before the general election, Democrat leaders considered dumping Clinton and replacing her with someone else.

Both parties richly deserve the cynicism many voters feel toward them. At least Republicans retain the reputation of being controlled by their voters.

Right, that's why construction on the border wall has begun, Obamacare has been repealed and we've all got tax cuts. I'm glad we live in this cotton candy land where Republican politicians care about what the voters want instead of what the US Chamber of Commerce wants.

That is a problem that Mitch McConnell is working overtime to correct.

I actually tend to agree with the authors premise, that Republicans are, for the most part, controlled by their voters.

Can anyone name the truly criminal Republicans we have had to deal with in the last twenty to thirty years, and where are they now. Think Packwood or John Ensign, there were many others. They are gone.

Now think of the Democrats with deviant activities who were still in the Senate or House, and not even censured.

The Republicans led by McConnel are fighting to retain power and are losing. But the swamp is deep and it takes time.
As for the DemocRATS, that is an Augean stable and no Hercules in sight.

Controlled by their voters? What a load of horse crap and shovel full of male bovine scat.

The elected officials in DC are the worse form of human waste elected to office in my memory and need to be dealt with. If the 3-5 good ones had any sense they would get the hell out of their before their lives are tainted forever.

I am not talking criminality.

I want something done that

protects and secures our borders

saves our tax dollars for our future generations

provides a strong military

protects our jobs

does not create AMNESTY

gives health care back to the people

gets CRIMINALS ARRESTED (how about that)

honors our traditional Judaeo Christian values and throws out Islam and Sharia

follows the Constitution and does not treat it like "living" document

The Republican party does generally attempt to police misconduct by their office holders. Sometimes, as seems to be the case with Moore, jumping on allegations, swallowing media reports in their entirety, and not waiting for evidence.

The Democrat Party, by contrast, generally seems to regard financial and sexual misconduct as a badge of honor. I am genuinely surprised some Democrats are actually calling for Senator Franken to resign.

I was actually thinking some of them might get 8x10 glossies and get his autograph. Paired with hers, that would bring a pretty penny on Ebay.

Unfortunately it ain’t horsecrap

John and Linda and Turtleman won their primaries with 60%+ of the vote. Paul Ryan won with 80%.

These idgits shouldn’t have even gotten 5%, yet Republican voters in their districts/states obviously thought they were doing a good job and voted them back in. So why would they change?

Hopefully that will change and 2018 see a lot of them thrown out.

If the Moore thing wasn't going on you wouldn't hear a peep.

If Moore loses it's the last you will hear of it.

Lets see what happens in Alabama next month, then will know for sure. We saw how the GOPE stole a seat in Mississippi a couple of years ago.

So you are saying Juan and Linda and the Turtle man are held accountable by the people that voted them into office. I say BULL SHIT and HORSE SHIT.

The people that elect them are dim witted inbreds that do not know which way is up and only go to the polls to vote because someone gave them a ride and TOLD THEM WHO to vote for.
