Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) predicted that Democrats would lose to President Trump again in 2020 if they are too liberal.
Durbin — the second highest-ranking Democrat in the Senate — said on local Chicago radio station WLS-AM on Sunday that Democrats shouldn't “overdo it” by acting too liberal in response to Trump.
The senator was responding to comments by Rep. Cheri Bustos (D-Ill.), who the host of the radio show Durbin was on said warned Democrats against moving too far to the left out of fear they could lose votes to Trump.
"We need to be balanced. She's right about that,” Durbin said.
“We don't give up on our values, but we better be sensitive, too, that there are people with more moderate views, and people who may disagree with some parts of the Democratic platform as they are presented. We've got to be open to that possibility," he said.
The host asked Durbin if Democrats could lose seats by “being too liberal.”
"You can," Durbin replied. "I think you can overdo it. We have to really appeal to that sensible center. It's a thin stripe now. It used to be a lot wider stripe, but it's an important and determining factor in most elections."
Democrats are facing an internal battle over how to move the party forward in the wake of Hillary Clinton’s surprise loss to Trump. Some lawmakers are eager to court votes from backers of Sen. Bernie Sanders's (I-Vt.) presidential campaign, while others remain wary of progressive policies like Sanders's single-payer health-care bill.

How the party can switch from liberal insanity to rational moderation, is beyond me. The Mob it created will still be out for blood.
We have an opportunity to destroy the power of the Democrat Party for a generation. Trump has just gotten started on it. I expect indictments for numerous Democrat crimes. They are so numerous that they need not even be terribly selective.
Expect a whirlwind as we approach the elections.
Meanwhile, Flimsey Graham is warning Trump that if he acts too much like a conservative, that Repubs will lose the Congress in 2018.

Durbin is a shape-shifter. He’ll be whatever you want him to be. You don’t “gradually” become the bleeding heart liberal he is but he pulled it off.
Durbin really wasn’t part of the “Chicago” machine (which really no longer exists as it used to) except when it’s useful to him.
He really didn’t and doesn’t need it.
He was raised in the middle of the state and was a breadbasket, blue dog RAT representative who was a strict pro-life catholic elected in 82.
His views “evolved” when ran for the Senate the first time and got swept in with in the Clinton election in 96.

How can we turn Durbin’s duplicity into headlines ? I don’t think it would matter. He would be elected till the cows come home.
