Trump isn't getting impeached anytime soon
The Washington Examiner ^ | May 19, 2017 | Casey Given

President Trump has had a rough week. On Tuesday, The New York Times reported that the president asked former FBI Director James Comey to drop the bureau's investigation of former national security advisor Michael Flynn's alleged ties with Russia. Then, on Wednesday, the Department of Justice appointed former FBI Director Robert Mueller as a special counsel to take over the investigation of Russia's alleged meddling in the 2016 presidential election.

With his administration battered by constant scandal, the president is now facing growing talk of impeachment. Rep. Justin Amash, R-Mich., made headlines on Wednesday for likely being the first Republican on the Hill to broach the subject of impeachment publicly. The online wagering site PredictIt saw record bets this week from observers looking to cash in on Trump's removal from office.

I hate to rain on their parade, but impeaching a sitting president is a highly improbable event no matter how bad the scandals get. Moreover, removing a president from office has never been done before in United States history.

Anti-Trump partisans should get comfortable in their seats. We're likely in for four full years....

There are no grounds for impeachment.

I dunno....I think it’s the RATs that had a bad week.
They are in absolute panic mode and creating chaos like Chicken Little.
I don’t think it really bothers Trump all that much. He just needs to roll on.
However, WHEN he finds the leaker(s), they need to be fired immediately and prosecuted to the full extent of the law. It would go a long ways to stopping a lot of the stupid BS.

They don’t need any grounds for impeachment, or conviction for that matter.

These “leakers” don’t exist. First of all, if there are people inside the administration giving info to the media, they’re simply making stuff up. Or, lying, in other words. So, can someone be prosecuted for lying?

But, I don’t think it’s WH employees saying anything. It’s the media making stuff up.

"They" don't but they do need votes! I can't see the congress voting to impeach.

That’s right. It’s a political and not a legal process. Impeachment - and conviction - of a president can happen for any reason. Or for no reason at all.

Although not likely, I can see it happening. A combination of Trump missteps and media lies would give the deep state all the opening it needs.

And no, Trump supporters would not then march in their millions to DC. That sort of thing only happens when your very way of life is threatened. A Trump impeachment would not affect food supplies or cable TV service. Life would go on.

Depressing, isn’t it?

Trump was elected, because he won over enough democrats to our side.

He did that because he was for some things, which the left is for. He is for American jobs, yet he has done virtually nothing about the vast number of American jobs which have been shipped to so many other countries.

And he did that, because he was for the wall.

I understand he was not dealing with the new budget, and I realize he (sort of) started on that, but he must not lose site of the fact that a huge number of people in American voted for him because he was for American jobs, and he was for the border.

If he does not do those things, he will lose a (lot) of support.

Trump, remember who voted for you. Remember those who have supported you since way back when.

Do what you said.

I think you underestimate the power an impeached Trump would wield. There are many of us that trust Trumps instincts and he could make or break candidates in many areas of the country. Impeachment may be inevitable, but it would come at a heavy cost to the establishment. They lose two more elections and we are in a whole new ball game.

You really need to search the keyword “jobs” here at Free Republic if you think that President Trump isn’t doing anything about American jobs.

I know you regularly post on jobs, on this website.

A hundred here. A couple hundred there. Meanwhile a massive layoff notice at Ford, no comment.

I have not seen a big effort yet, by Trump. I haven’t.

I have not seen any big effort yet, on the border. These are the biggest two issues to me, and on neither one of them, has anything been done yet.

Trump, I was with you since before you even announced. But you really, really, really need to begin working on US jobs, and building a strong border.

Now.

Not same day. Not in September, or some time in the future.

Now.

Two of the articles I posted today (now that the site is back up) involved 3,000 jobs and 750 jobs. That’s not small potatoes. And yes, companies have lay offs. Even during the best of times there will be some lay offs. I was a career counselor and recruiter for decades. This economy is truly picking up versus Obama.

I’m ready to start ballyhooing about Trump being all for American jobs, and for building the border.

Thus far, though, I have seen that China (on trade) and the democrats (and the GOPe, on the border) effectively appear to have completely derailed Trump on these two issues thus far.

They are the two most important, in my view.

Maybe I am being too critical, but those were my two big issues. American jobs, and the border.

I have supported Trump forever. I really have.

But he needs to take a much bigger profile, on these issues.

Jobs, and the border.

American presidents have been on the opposition side, forever. Both parties.

I thought Trump would be strong on these two issues.

Thus far, I have not seen that.

In eight years of Obama do you recall daily announcements of plant openings and widespread hiring of all types of American workers? I don’t. 100 here, 500 there, 2,000 over here, it all adds up. Most of these are well beyond minimum wage jobs, too. You need to look at the big picture. Alibaba will create several million jobs just by itself. Same with Amazon and Apple.
