Husband & I bought our cemetery plots and marker a few
years ago in the same cemetery our baby was placed in when
he died at six weeks old. We’re both in our seventies. -
It’s kind of unusual to be able to put flowers on your own
graves; but it’s facing reality so we’ve been able to relax
knowing we didn’t leave it on other family to have to deal
with when the time comes. - We both have substantial life
insurance policies that should take care of the costs of
simple funerals. I know the cost of EVERYTHING is higher
than it used to be. So, now we don’t worry about “it”.

My grandfather, an old hillbilly, used to hollow out bee
gum logs to make caskets for his neighbors when a death
occurred. (Many years ago.) The women in an area sewed
nice casket linings for their deceased neighbors. - Later,
coffins were shaped in the traditional form & were made
of wooden planks.
