HARRISONBURG, Va. -- Mike Pence, coming off his biggest night of the campaign, suggested to a gathering of supporters here Wednesday that "some people think I won" the vice presidential debate.
"Donald Trump called me late last night from Nevada to congratulate me on the debate," Pence said at the first rally of his four-day, four-state bus tour. "That really meant the world to me. Some people think I won. But, I'll leave that to others."
In this conservative town in the Shenandoah Valley, Pence kicked off the rally at the Rockingham County Fairgrounds to the cheers of several hundred backers under the open skies and surrounded by bales of hay.
"You know what I could tell you -- from where I sat, Donald Trump won the debate," Pence continued, seemingly trying to thwart any notion that Pence did not aid Trump as much as his own possible political ambitions down the road. "Donald Trump's vision to make America great again won the debate!"(continued)

Pence stopped the bleeding....Pence the STANCHER!!
No word yet from Klown Kaine as to whether Hitlery lost the debate.
Man Trump picked a good VP. I didn’t like the choice at the time, but once again Trump was right.
[I didnt like the choice at the time, but once again Trump was right.]
Same here. Esp after the latest terror attack when Trump first announced Pence as VP (I think it was the truck attack in Nice). I had my hopes on General Flynn.
But Pence has been growing on me, and last night’s performance was awesome!!
Pence: Donald Trump Real Winner of VP Debate
That’s a man, right there.
Trump needs to man up and learn from Pence, too.
Trump’s his own man and that’s why he picked Pence.
I liked the choice from the beginning, as a perfect fit. What's coming across (especially in the debate) is that Pence has a very slick, sophisticated sense of humor. He's not just a country boy.
I'm extremely pro-life. Our nation is going to *ell because we deserve it due to the slaughter of the pre-born. Pence did something important, if we're ever to turn the culture around. He showed that he can sell pro-life views, which needs to be done. Hearts and minds have to change, and the laws will follow.
The Media Death Star journobloggers forgot to target him like they did Sarah Palin. :)
They weren't prepared for Pence, like they were prepared for Trump.
Besides, Trump had ONE job in the last debate - to not act crazy or unstable.
“Besides, Trump had ONE job in the last debate - to not act crazy or unstable.”
This could be one of the strangest statements I’ve seen. Doesn’t say much for Trump. You meen he can’t chew gum and walk at the same time. His job was to win the debate and do it by putting up strong arguments that are delivered in a professional manner...just like Mike Pence did last night.
But Trump didn’t think it was that important to prepare for the most important evening in his and our lives. The VP debate should haunt him enough to be better prepared for the next two debates.
Trump actually asked in a fundraising e-mail what he should learn from Pence for the next debate.
I said laugh at the over the top lies and misrepresentations like Pence did. Then pivot to the issues and glaring differences between him and Crooked.
The Democrats Holt and Clinton wanted to PROVE that Trump was "dangerous and unstable".
The debate had NOTHING to do with what was said.
It was all about Trump looking presidential, which he did.
That's what he prepared for, and that's what he delivered.
The Democrats didn't prepare their ambush for Pence as well as they did for Trump.
BTW - you can "explain" more to me about politics when you've been here more than a year.
I don't get as excited by the "inside ball" politics as some people around here do. I've been exposed to it for many, many years. :)
