I was wrong: Trump WILL be the next president
CNBC ^ | 06/01/2016 | Jake Novak

Posted on 06/01/2016 9:32:52 AM PDT by RayofHope

A few months ago, I wrote that Donald Trump would win the GOP presidential nomination – but that would be the end of the line for him. I was sure that Trump just couldn't shore up enough of the already too small Republican base to win in November, thus nearly guaranteeing not only a loss but a big loss to Hillary Clinton in the general election.

Love this comment:

But what I and others forgot was that on Election Day, there's not enough of that conservative elite base to fill a phone booth. Securing their support is no way to win a general election.

Nobody cares that you and your “expert” friends were wrong and often continue to be wrong.

The only thing that matters is Trump becoming president and this Ship of State being turned from the raging open ocean that threatens to break her apart, and back into its constitutional port where it belongs.

Long article of excuses clap trap trying to redeem the author as a pundit when all he is, is just another journalist.

Not only will he win -— he is going to win YUGE! I’m thinking landslide. Kind of an exclamation point to the political elite — we are not just a little angry, we are furious!

It seems Hillary is the one having this trouble now.

If Donald Trump becomes president, the following is a list of things that will happen to me, personally.

1. I will FINALLY breathe a sigh of relief to be proven wrong that my government and country are corrupt to the core.
2. I will FINALLY start seeing the support that I need to grow my business and bring my ideas to the marketplace, using my own revenue to do so.
3. I will FINALLY know that my daughter has a chance - even if just fleeting - to be raised in a country that actually cares about her success and the success of those in her age group.
4. I will FINALLY have confidence that in a few years my country will have started making progress to become the top of the world in science, medicine, agriculture and space travel.

A note about 4. I thought by now that we would be living and working in space. Maybe not exploring distant stars - But we would be showcasing technology in space for us all to have access to. I lost that hope and with it one of my biggest shreds of excitement about humanity. Now we explore innovations in bathroom signage. We are a miserable, lost and hopeless society. I had decided to withdraw into a deep isolation with my family (Particularly my daughter) to just stay out of it.

But with a Trump presidency I can actually come out of that shell and feel good about dedicating my time, mind and efforts to the community at large.

Right now, all I want to do is retreat into the deep woods never to talk to another soul forever. It’s dark and miserable in this government affair. If Trump is “allowed” presidency then all that will change. I will once again have hope for us all.

Well CNBC, you could have gladly paid me the 7 Plus Figures you’ve been paying this moron for the last 9 months and gotten actually accurate analysis. I’ll be waiting for the call.

I’ve been saying that here for months. Those elite bastard’s votes are minuscule compared to the rest of US!

I really hope you are right, but let's not take ANYTHING for granted. We need to approach this election under the assumption that we will have to fight for every single vote. It's better to fight hard and win easily that it would be to relax and find out afterwards that we made a terrible miscalculation.

Great article, thanks for posting. Yes, Novak seems to have seen the things most of the rest of us have and he's presented them with commendable clarity. Late to the train, maybe, but there's plenty of room.

Part of the difficulty is this is decidedly not a conventional election due to the character of all three of the remaining candidates. There hasn't really been much like Bernie Sanders around since Henry Wallace and he appears to have captured a similar set of demographics, which had, for Wallace, an enthusiastic following with a very unyielding ceiling that was insufficient to the task at hand. Second, Hillary is both a remarkably unsavory candidate with stiff, inaccessible behavior and a resume that is filled with a trail of human wreckage and world-class corruption. Barring someone being shoved onstage behind them - it still could happen but it's getting less feasible by the day - barring that, it will be one of those two. Those are serious holes into which the Trump campaign has been fitted very deliberately like a key to a lock. This isn't accidental at all.

What is remarkable to me is how quickly the Republican machine has been brought to heel, if in fact it has yet. The sort of votes Trump got has everything to do with that but as we see on the Dem side of the house, that machine is very loathe to share power and will fight it tooth and nail. That's a problem if it causes that machine to trim its options the wrong way, as it apparently has with Hillary. To change horses now is an admission of weakness. Priebus and the boys at the RNC will survive that whether Trump wins or loses simply by acceding to the campaign. The Dems aren't in that position.

What Trump's campaign has sold is something I hear from his supporters - I am now one - with increasing frequency: "Trump has his warts and I don't care. Listen to the message." That is the top of the political power curve right there, and that's what Hillary's people are scrabbling so desperately to mount, with their candidate stubbornly dragging them back down the tough side. She's all wart. Her message is irrelevant. They can't change it or, even with the help of the media, disguise it.

Their hope is that this is the high tide of the Trump campaign, to recede into something like parity by the time November rolls around. The problem is that they've been saying that about the Trump campaign for the better part of a year now and it doesn't look like it's doing any recession. If things are panicky on the Dem side of the house, that's why.

Yes, it’s an indictment of the collective IQ of the pundit class.

I wouldve backed Cruz and hoped he didn't run last century's election, because Hillary knows the playbook.

Trump on the other hand, has his own playbook. Or maybe doesn't even have one. Whichever. Clinton won't know what hit her because her usual tactics won't work on Trump or his followers.

The core of his support come from angry voters who aren't going to be swayed like fickle followers of Dem causes.
