Trump question leaves House Republican stumbling
msnbc.com ^ | 02/11/16 12:40 PM | Steve Benen

As much of the political world shifts its attention towards the South Carolina primary, MSNBCs Steve Kornacki checked in this morning with Rep. Mark Sanford (R-S.C.), the states former governor. Sanford noted he’d heard from a lot of locals that supporting Donald Trump would help send a message to Washington. The Trump candidacy, the congressman added, has tapped into Republicans frustrations.

Sanford’s troubles were understandable. There were plenty of Republicans who effectively, if not literally, ruled out Trump as a possibility in 2015, when they still assumed the New York developer’s support would collapse. But many of those same GOP officials and lawmakers are now confronted with the real possibility that Trump will be their party’s presidential nominee.

Asked if the anti-Trump comments they made months ago still apply, Sanford probably is not the only one at a loss for words.

KORNACKI: What about your role in all of this? I saw you over the summer when Donald Trump made some comments about Megyn Kelly, you seemed to say at the time that would rule out Donald Trump for you. Is that still true?

SANFORD: I like every other [several painful seconds of unintelligible sounds] whats the word I am looking for? Well, anyway, I could not, uh…. He then changed the subject, shifting to more general thoughts on Trump. When Kornacki pressed further about Sanford’s personal perspective, the South Carolinian eventually said he doesn’t think he will support Trump, but he is leaving it to voters to decide.

I lived in South Carolina when Sanford was my rep.

Not sure I would want his opinion on much of anything at this point.

If and hopefully when Trump wins, the current members of the cabal don’t want to get primaried. They’re hedging their bets, they don’t want the gravy train to end.

Trump won’t win, he isn’t in tune with black America the way Hillary is. I mean watch this, doesn’t this make you choke up?

Yeah, I would say that any state that voted Sanford back into public office after his (what would you call it?) escapades south of the equator, shouldn’t have any trouble with someone as straight-laced, by comparison, as Donald Trump. ;-)

Sanford is plain lucky to even be in office at all. That ‘Appalachian trail’ that he went on would have sunk most any other politician, with a sufficiently good protege.
Sanford definitely doesn’t want Donald talking negative about his past, so he’ll play it close to the vest for now.

Hillary Clinton Top Six Campaign Staffers Are All White Men

As Hillary Clinton’s campaign looks to the black vote in South Carolina to fend off Sen. Bernie Sanders’ momentum, a look at her staff list reveals an exclusively white leadership team mostly comprised of white males. In fact, her top six campaign officials are all white guys.

KORNACKI to Sanford: What about your role in all of this? I saw you over the summer when Donald Trump made some comments about Megyn Kelly, you seemed to say at the time that would rule out Donald Trump for you. Is that still true?

It is wonderful to see our long standing corrupt political system disintegrating right before our eyes. A system that hates working and tax paying Americans and rewards illegals and open borders elites. May Sanford have a lot of sleepless nights and day terrors from now on.

How Donald Trump broke all the rules, and won anyway.

So, Trump and his voters won and broke the rules of the conservative plantation masters by voting for Trump in NH.

We are seeing a paradigm shift with us selecting our Presidential Candidate instead of the GOPe and DEMe elites, who hate us, selecting our candidates.

There is a Black Swan event occurring with the daily suicidal self wrought destruction of the GOPe, Open Border Thugs, DC faux pundits, Faux News, ABCNNBCBS and the left wing fish wraps. Something similar is happening with the DEMes.

Many of us are looking forward to seeing the broken bones, drying blood and entrails of the Lying GOP Open Borders Elite, their DC faux conservative pundits, their mediots, their phoney pollers and focus groups, Faux, ABCNNBCBS, their hired tv and radio hacks strewn across the primary states as much as our victories in those states.

We have escaped from their faux conservative plantations, and we are not going back for more lies, abuse and mistreatment from our former GOPe masters.

Mark Sanford is one of the more despicable politicians the South has produced in recent history. He has all the qualities of a dog except loyalty.

Between you, me and a fence post we know what is going to happen! The establishment has built a cabal that is identical to the democrats. They chose to side with what they believed was a winning team and ignored those of us who refused to follow in their traitorous foot steps.

Now it’s time to pay their due to the devil for their dishonesty and treachery against the many to benefit the few.

They are the few that will feel the repercussions and will rue the day they made their deal with the devil.

Given the Donald's record as a serial adulterer, and with married women, I expect he won't be going after Sanford on the subject of sins of the flesh.
