Could be. But he’s probably thinking that most people (even democrats) will be unwilling to put another communist (or an treasonous unindicted co-conspirator) in the whitehouse.
Good. A house divided will not stand. The eGOP is splintering at breakneck speed.
Following is a speech from Hillary's favorite President, Republican Abraham Lincoln.
House Divided Speech Springfield, IllinoisFull speech at link.
June 16, 1858On June 16, 1858 more than 1,000 delegates met in the Springfield, Illinois, statehouse for the Republican State Convention. At 5:00 p.m. they chose Abraham Lincoln as their candidate for the U.S. Senate, running against Democrat Stephen A. Douglas. At 8:00 p.m. Lincoln delivered this address to his Republican colleagues in the Hall of Representatives. The title reflects part of the speech's introduction, "A house divided against itself cannot stand," a concept familiar to Lincoln's audience as a statement by Jesus recorded in all three synoptic gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke).
Even Lincoln's friends regarded the speech as too radical for the occasion. His law partner, William H. Herndon, considered Lincoln as morally courageous but politically incorrect. Lincoln read the speech to him before delivering it, referring to the "house divided" language this way: "The proposition is indisputably true ... and I will deliver it as written. I want to use some universally known figure, expressed in simple language as universally known, that it may strike home to the minds of men in order to rouse them to the peril of the times."
The speech created many repercussions, giving Lincoln's political opponent fresh ammunition. Herndon remarked, "when I saw Senator Douglas making such headway against Mr. Lincoln's house divided speech I was nettled & irritable, and said to Mr. Lincoln one day this -- 'Mr. Lincoln -- why in the world do you not say to Mr. Douglas, when he is making capitol out of your speech, -- 'Douglas why whine and complain to me because of that speech. I am not the author of it. God is. Go and whine and complain to Him for its revelation, and utterance.' Mr. Lincoln looked at me one short quizzical moment, and replied 'I can't.'"
Reflecting on it several years later, Herndon said the speech did awaken the people, and despite Lincoln's defeat, he thought the speech made him President. "Through logic inductively seen," he said, "Lincoln as a statesman, and political philosopher, announced an eternal truth -- not only as broad as America, but covers the world."
Another colleague, Leonard Swett, said the speech defeated Lincoln in the Senate campaign. In 1866 he wrote to Herndon complaining, "Nothing could have been more unfortunate or inappropriate; it was saying first the wrong thing, yet he saw it was an abstract truth, but standing by the speech would ultimately find him in the right place."
Mr. President and Gentlemen of the Convention.
If we could first know where we are, and whither we are tending, we could then better judge what to do, and how to do it.
We are now far into the fifth year, since a policy was initiated, with the avowed object, and confident promise, of putting an end to slavery agitation.
Under the operation of that policy, that agitation has not only, not ceased, but has constantly augmented.
In my opinion, it will not cease, until a crisis shall have been reached, and passed.
"A house divided against itself cannot stand."
Nope they hate Trump too.
They figure it will be easier to take out Cruz, then they will double down on Trump.
They won't be expecting it (they are so clueless) but Trump will quadruple down on them.
They will settle for nothing less than an eGOP candidate that they can manipulate to give the election to Hillary.
As has been noted before by myself and others (including Rush Limbaugh) the eGOP does not want to be in power. It's too much responsibility and they are lazy.
All they want is their perk$ and they can get them no matter which party is in power.
"Take out" doesn't mean kill here. It's just politics as usual. Some in the Establishment hate Cruz so much they'll back Trump -- who they don't like or trust either -- and hope that once Cruz is out of the way, someone else will defeat Trump. If that's their plan, it's not more devious or barbaric than other things that go on in politics.
Yup.
Just per me, there isn’t any crossover between Cruz and Rubio.
If Cruz fell down a hole, it wouldn’t be Rubio got my vote.
The GOP doesn’t understand that. They’re banking on they have you by the balls.
The article is exactly right in one respect, we need Cruz to win in Iowa to ensure a either Trump/Cruz scenario.
Trump is in it to the end, the key is to make sure Cruz gets there with him as the last two standing. Cruz is not going to win NH, if he loses in Iowa we could end up with the anti-Trump vote coalescing around a establishment candidate like Kasich or Rubio and that would be much worse.
Cruz or Lose!!
~~~~ducking~~~ LOL!
Go, Cruz, GO!
Wooohooo!!!
Cruz to a win!
IMO, it is very unchristian to attack Glen Beck’s religion just because he did not endorse your favorite candidate. The Judeo-Christian values this nation was founded on support the freedom of religion and conscience. They get to vote and have a say in the political process. Otherwise the self-righteous liberal religion of Trump would be an issue. What is relevant are the political positions and the Constitution.
There is an element of consideration the individual voter makes in assessing a candidates principles which may include considering his claim to faith. Each person can decide. But to bash a person’s participation just because they are Mormon pretty much makes the case that the entire state of Utah ought to lose voting rights and representation. That is very unchristian and unconstitutional. I say that as a person who sees Mormonism as a cult.
They don’t really hate Trump; they know they can deal with him.
That is why they call the GOP the stupid party. Personally I would never vote for Rubio and I am a strong Cruz supporter that would vote for Trump if Cruz was not there.
With backbiting, lies and attacks.
Fox is now an Editorial page, threw honest journalism out the window.
They hate Trump, Cruz, conservatism and our Constitutional Republic.
Megyn rules! Ask Hume.
“Bruto Rubio”
Bruto Rubio? You calling that little runt Bruto? The guys what, 5’-1’ barefooted. That’s like calling a Pomeranian
“Maneater”.
Just one thing though. The fix may already be in for either
Rubio or Bush. Most likely Bush. I think that when it all
comes down to it The RNC is either going to pull support or
seriously hinder Trump or Cruz and end up not being much
help at all. The best thing to do would be to take their
money and leave their political insiders out of the loop.
They will be nothing but trojans anyway, just like they were
with Palin.
I think it’s Rubio. They know Bush is a non-starter, mostly due to his last name. Nobody wants anymore Bushes, so Rubio is the next best one.
It's sick out there, and getting sicker....
I don’t see Rubio as the second choice for Cruz.
