“First place” polling in arbitrary fashion for events far in the future is without meaning.
Noot is going by the general degree of rejection of Trump, and the fact that dropouts have not raised his numbers, but have raised others numbers.
The figure he gave is not his own, but that of the majority of statisticians in the mix.
I don't think there is any figure from "the majority of statisticians" that Newt is quoting; I think he's wrong here, that he's underestimating what Trump's chances are. It's more likely that Trump is going to register more real votes than polling shows than the reverse, simply because lots of people don't want to be seen as supporting someone who the media considers racist. It's how people sometimes respond to this PC crap.
I've been saying for months now that this is Trump's race to win or lose, and that only Trump can take out Trump. He may lose, things are still not written in stone, but I think it's getting more and more unlikely.
