Willard was a ringer and there was never any intention for him to win (his sole purpose was to stop any viable Conservative nominee). Newt was schizo, and always has had a bizarre fetish to be loved and accepted by the party establishment (he started his career as a GOP Rockefeller leftist). Debates alone, even if Newt or Santorum had bested Zero in them, would’ve been enough. I tentatively backed Santorum, but he was badly underfunded and basically a second-tier candidate. I really wanted to draft Gov. Walker that year, though if his choke-up this year was any indication, he might’ve blown it against Zero.
Gotta love these Newbie Trumpsters who sign up just to tear down the true conservatives.

Why be so bitter against a newbie? Just because the poster supports a different candidate than you do? How does that help FR to grow? I have to assume Jim Robinson wants more people to join FR and increase it’s base, not discourage new joiners.

I watched Newt on TV a few weeks back on a cable network, and what I recall is that basically he will support whoever wins nomination. It did not sound like he is pushing any one particular candidate.

Do you know Ronald Reagan and Tip O’Neill (democrat Speaker of House) were friends? May be that is why Reagan got a lot of his agenda through congress. That becomes much harder if very few people like you and get along with you.
By your measurement Cruz has 88% chance of NOT getting nomnation, Rubio has 90% chance of NOT getting nomination, and Bush has 96% chance of NOT getting nomination.
