Lindsey Graham is a pro-life Republican senator who has drawn praises from pro-life advocates for leading the fight on key pro-life legislation such as the 20-week abortion ban and the Unborn Victims of Violence Act. But the presidential candidate is getting himself in hot water with pro-life voters after he attacked pro-life presidential hopeful ted Cruz yesterday for opposing the abortion of babies conceived in rape.
Graham contends the position supporting the right to life of unborn babies no matter how they are conceived is a losing proposition with voters in the next presidential election. Hereâs what Graham had to say and video of his remarks:
âHow many believe weâve got a problem with young women as Republicans?â Graham asked during a speech to a Republican Jewish group. âWhat do you think that problem is? Any idea? What? Itâs a variety of problems. How about abortion? Any of you think that does create a problem for the Republican Party?â
âI think you can be pro-life as you wanna be, as long as youâre sincere, and as long as you have a reasonable approach to the pro-life issue,âhe said, but warned that a hard-line position would turn off voters...

Sorry, I like Cruz and can’t stand Linda, but if it were my daughter or wife...
I know that might not be popular here, but forced conception is very wrong, IMHO.
Lindsey, let me get you a sweet tea, dear.
You seem a mite overwrought.
Are the vapors plaguing you?
Well, you can tell Cruz is rising in the polls. Graham has pulled his head (or whatever) out of McCain’s rear end long enough to notice.
Graham is in no way saying thus to help his candidacy.
It is to set the stage against him in the general.
So Linda has been assigned by the GOPe to ‘take down’ Ted Cruz. Hilarious.
Like using a Chihuahua as a war dog.
Typical. Lay the blame on some innocent kid. I’m not sure what I’d do in that situation but Lindsey doesn’t.
It looks like senator Lohan is playing to the dumb sl*t constituency
Yep, because it was the babies fault it must die ... oh, wait.
Is forced conception worse than abortion?
A life is a life is a life.
Like I said, it might not be popular here..
OK, I’m sure there are victims of rape and incest who are preggars, but really - what percentage of abortions are NOT convenience murders?
This is a stoopid argument from a useless fool.
And not just a regular Chihuahua but a Teacup one.
None of us would want to face that choice.
“None of us would want to face this choice.”
No, I couldn’t agree more.
Graham’s listened to the GOPe consultants, beltway lobbyists, and liberal media for long enough he likely believes this pap. It’s too bad because he showed such promise during the impeachment of Clinton.
This is one of those issues that is more complicated that one imagines.
It presents several indisputable arguments on both sides.
First is, does the baby deserve to die because of the terms of conception? How is it guilty of anything, but life.
Second is, should a woman be forced (against her will) to carry a child who is a daily reminder of a rape?
I don’t have the wisdom to offer anything resembling a coherent answer on how to reconcile these.
A friend’s daughter was conceived in rape. She’s a beautiful 16 year old girl now. Thankfully her mother was exactly that.
I’d say 9 out of 10 would opt for the day after pill.
Less than 1% of rapes end in conception. If I ever get raped and get pregnant as a result, (God forbid) I hope I will choose to give my child life. To me, the father is irrelevant. The fact a baby is my child should be what matters to me. I hope it never comes to that, but I hope that if it ever happens I may stick to my convictions.
